    Nadal 2-0 Young*

These two are well matched in terms of aggression on the ball. They're both a fan of absolutely belting it from the baseline.

Nadal's got the edge at the moment. A fine backhand winner brings the former champion up to 40-30, and Young hits long to hand the game to his opponent.

Nadal is a practice phenomenon and in the other Grand Slams he likes to go on the main court and practice. At Wimbledon this not possible for him, so it is a bit of an unknown. I’m sure he will have therefore felt a bit edgy but that will now have eased.

  4. Nadal breaks in opening gamepublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

    *Nadal 1-0 Young

Former Wimbledon junior champion Donald Young gets this show on the road...by shanking a forehand wide. Not ideal.

The American recovers to 40-15 but then he nets and double faults and we go to deuce.

Young looks down in the dumps when he finds the net again and hands break point to Nadal.

Same again on the next point. The perfect start for the King of Clay.

The sun may soon be coming down over Centre Court, but we've still got some tennis to get on with on day three.

    Ready? Play.

A big smile on the face of Venus Williams as she saves two break points and tidies up the final set to move into the third round.

That's a real battling performance from the two-time champion to overcome Qiang Wang over on court one.

Donald Young is no slouch, this is going to be a proper match. If it gets into nitty gritty, Rafa will have too much power and too much fire. The first set will give us an indication as to how long this match will last.

Last year, with Roger Federer going out in the semis and Nadal not even playing with injury, we thought we'd seen the best of them. One year on, they are the two best players in the world.

    Nadal v Young

Maybe the biggest ovation of the day goes to Rafa Nadal, as he wanders out on Centre Court. Wolf whistles and all. Oh I say.

Nadal has played world number 43 Donald Young on two previous occasions and won them both in straight sets.

    Ominous.

More from Andy Murray: "My hip is okay, I have moved well in the first couple of matches, it hasn’t affected me. I have been getting good practices in and it feels good. Hopefully it stays that way.

"It’s been a good start, hopefully I can keep it going."

    Brengle 6-3 Kvitova

    Now then.

Petra Kvitova is one of the favourites to lift the Wimbledon crown this year, but she's in a bit of bother over on court two.

She's lost the first set to America's Madison Brengle, with 23 unforced errors to boot! You can watch that match here.

Sometimes you look at these men, the likes of Murray, Federer, and the gap seems to be widening. We will see if Donald Young can make a dent on Nadal.

    Nadal v Young

Up next, it's Rafa Nadal and Donald Young.

Nadal is searching to reach the third round at Wimbledon for only the second time since he finished as runner-up in 2011.

In fact the last time Rafa played on Centre Court, back in 2015, he lost that second round match to one Dustin Brown...

Andy Murray speaking to BBC Two: "At the beginning of the match, he started well and was coming up with great drop volleys and going for returns. Once I got a break in the first set, momentum was with me and I could see the shots he was going to play a little bit better. I played well.

"The last three games I didn’t serve particularly well but the rest of the match I served well. He didn’t attack my second serve like he normally does. I moved pretty well too."

Playing tennis in almost 30C heat is thirsty work. So is watching it.

Wimbledon's scoreboards, big screens, sound systems and social media accounts have been warning punters to stay safe in the sun.

And these warnings have been heeded.

The bottle refills at the bottom of a packed Murray Mound - which is stocked with more shades, straw hats and parasols than a beach shop - have the biggest queues around the Club.

The truth is that Brown came out strong, was doing good things and playing as well as he could but still couldn’t make much of an impact.

It then became extremely one sided. Brown is one of those guys who you don’t want to play but when you do, and beat him as convincingly as Murray did, that’s when the smiles come out.

Big smiles all round, along with a cuddle at the net. Murray is through to round three!

As entertaining as Brown was to start off with, in truth, Murray completely controlled that. From the first break in the first set, Murray dictated the tempo.

That means there are four Brits in the third round for the first time at Wimbledon since 1997.
