    Pliskova 5-3 Rybarikova

A sweltering day on Centre Court. Both players glistening under an ocean of blue sky. We were warned of thunderstorms. Not a whiff of rain.

An unfortunate net cord hands Karolina Pliskova a break point and she cashes in, a thumping forehand into the shins of Magdalena Rybarikova and she can't get the return in.

The world number 589 Ernests Gulbis has knocked out 29th seed Juan Martin del Potro!

Gulbis, who has suffered a number of injuries recently, is a much better player than that ranking but that is a shock nonetheless.

The Latvian hit 60 winners. Wow.

A tough match to come though. Gulbis will play Novak Djokovic in the third round.

    Pliskova 3-3 Rybarikova

Roger Federer follows this match on Centre but he may have a lengthy wait. These two have started very well indeed, both playing great shots around the net and Karolina Pliskova absolutely nailing the ball from deep as well.

Magdalena Rybarikova is having to work hard on her own serve but has a mix of shots to keep in the game. A 15-shot rally goes her way as she holds again.

    Pliskova 1-1 Rybarikova

    What a game!

Karolina Pliskova is the world's number one player this year and you can see why. She has all the shots, moving Magdalena Rybarikova around the court at will. But she can move...

Rybarikova saves four break points, one with a gem of a disguised drop shot, and shows some great touch around the net.

Centre Court is pretty empty as people take a break before Federer. But this could be the match of the day.

This second game ticks past 10 minutes, seven deuces, before Rybarikova finally holds.
