  1. Game and second setpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    Pliskova 6-3 5-7 Rybarikova

Pliskova serving to stay in the set then. Unerring stuff, that big first serve still doing the business but then she misses an easy volley to go 30-30.

Pressure on. And then a BIG miss wide. Erring stuff.

Set point Rybarikova! Big serve when Pliskova needed it, Sampras style.

She's long again on a forehand though, second set point. LONG again!

Wow, three big errors in one game, and it's one set each.

Awful scenes as Bethanie Mattek-Sands is taken off Court 17 on a stretcher.

The American player suffered a nasty leg injury in her match against Romania's Sorana Cirstea.

Mattek-Sands' doubles partner Lucie Safarova, the pair having won three Grand Slams in a row together, is in floods of tears court side.

    Pliskova 6-3 5-6 Rybarikova

A reminder that Roger Federer is on Centre next. Could be 15 minutes, could be an hour or more.

This one is in the balance.

Rybarikova looks composed though, and finds a booming first serve to take the game.

    Pliskova 6-3 5-5 Rybarikova

Pliskova needs to hold her serve here then, or it's a third set.

She wrongfoots Rybarikova with a fine shot to go 15-0 up, and then crunches a forehand cross court. Looking good.

Lovely shot! Forehand winner down the line, just steered in. Is there a better women's player at the moment?

    Holds.

Rybarikova is a wonderful player, I'm pleased to see her on this big stage against a big player. She came into the match with very little to lose after her recent injuries.

Oh no this does not look good.

American Bethanie Mattek-Sands has gone down with what looks like a serious knee injury on court 17.

She slipped on the court and is still receiving treatment on court some minutes later.

She sounds in serious pain and unsurprisingly has retired from the match.

    Pliskova 6-3 4-5 Rybarikova

Rybarikova chooses to come in to the net and scores the volley superbly, to go 40-0 up. She chases Pliskova around the court, a squash shot defence wins the Czech the point though.

She can't get that first serve in, mind. That's her Achilles heel. But she wins the game to move into position for this second set.

How does Pliskova respond? Well. Another solid service game to move us to 4-4.

And now Magdalena Rybarikova holds comfortably. A big two games.

  12. Break backpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    Pliskova 6-3 3-3 Rybarikova

A pivotal game, you feel. Hold this and Pliskova will be close to victory.

She goes 15-30 down though, before Rybarikova whips a forehand low into the net. She has a loud word with herself too. A missed opportunity.

That's a beauty though, whipped down the line to bring up a break point. Got to take it. Takes it! Pliskova puts it wide.

    Pliskova 6-3 3-2 Rybarikova

Magdalena Rybarikova is holding her own for most of the time but is prone to the odd loose shot, as she cannons a forehand long under no pressure to waste a good position and invite some pressure back on her own serve.

A lengthy rally ensues before Pliskova's power and precision buys her another break opportunity.

Does she cash in again? Yep!

  14. Radwanska through but Mladenovic outpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

She saved two match points in the second set and now Agnieszka Radwanska has sealed victory in the decider against American Christina McHale.

    In the end the ninth seed - a runner-up in 2012 - won 5-7 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 in two hours 42 minutes.

There has been no such luck for French 12th seed Kristina 'Kiki' Mladenovic though. She has been dumped out as American Alison Riske came from behind to win 2-6 6-4 6-4.

    Pliskova 6-3 2-2 Rybarikova

Karolina Pliskova just doesn't look like giving away a break point, never mind a service game. Dominant on her own side of the net, she holds to love.

  16. Postpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    Pliskova 6-3 1-2 Rybarikova

Another unlucky net cord hurts Magdalena Rybarikova. She has to up her first serve percentage mind. She's only hitting 22% in this second set so far, and faces a break point as a result.

Will Pliskova be clinical? Not this time, Rybarikova hits a cracking backhand into the corner and the number three seed gets there, but can't control it. Deuce.

Yes! Rybarikova chucks in a serve and volley and surprises everyone. Plays it like a dream. And holds.

  18. In the doubles...published at 16:39 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

Third seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares are bossing their doubles match on court five.

They battled to take the first set in a tie-break before taking the second 6-2 in only 30 minutes.

You can follow the action here.

The Bryan brothers are also in action in the doubles on court eight but are a break down against Australian pair Marc Polmans and Andrew Whittington.

    Pliskova 6-3 1-1 Rybarikova

Pliskova has a very economical service action. No frills. It's effective though.

Of course, as soon as I say that she duffs a double fault into the net.

She then clubs a forehand well wide to slide to 30-30. A few nerves for the first time?

Coach David Kotyza grimaces in the box, but Pliskova takes her time and hammers down a powerful serve, and holds.

    Pliskova 6-3 0-1 Rybarikova

Magdalena Rybarikova needs a strong start to this second set to prevent the match from getting away from her. She played well in the first set but just had no answer to the striking from Pliskova.

And she holds her first service game to 15. Textbook.
