Jay Clarke is living the dream of every teenage tennis player in the UK. Hitting with Andy Murray!

The 18-year-old from Derby narrowly missed a place in the Wimbledon main singles draw after a heartbreaking qualifying defeat.

But he is here in SW19, playing in the men's doubles alongside last year's British hero Marcus Willis. With a couple of warm-ups with Muzza thrown in for good measure.

"It was awesome," he said afterwards. "He is the world number one, he's a Grand Slam winner, he's in great form... it is a great learning experience.

"And maybe I might be in his position and doing the same with another young British player in a few years time..."

    Remember the name.

    Pliskova 1-0 Rybarikova

Karolina Pliskova holds her serve with no major dramas to open up play on Centre. Opponent Magdalena Rybarikova is no mug mind, reaching the third round here two years ago.

Pliskova is striking the ball beautifully though.

Great drama on court two as the Polish ninth seed saves two match points before winning the second set tie-break to level at one set all.

This one is going the distance.

    Djokovic through

"Overall I managed to impose my own rhythm and play the game I intended to play," said Novak Djokovic, who beat Adam Pavlasek in straight sets.

"It was very warm and hot and not easy to play point after point in some of the long rallies."

Djokovic was Pavlasek's idol growing up and the Serb added: "I am flattered, it is nice to hear I inspired someone with my tennis and I understand what it feels like.

"I didn't know much about him, I tried to get as much information as I could in the last 48 hours. It was a big occasion for him and I'm sure he can play better but it was all working well for me."

  5. Pliskova under waypublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    Pliskova 0-0 Rybarkikova

So what of number three seed Karolina Pliskova then?

The women's draw is shorn of Grand Slam winners, so it really is anyone's title. Pliskova is very much in the mix.

A quarter-finalist at the Aussie Open and a semi-finalist in Paris, the 25-year-old has never made the third round at Wimbers.

Is this the year? She is up and away on Centre.

  6. Radwanska saves match pointspublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    Radwankska 5-7 6-6 (7-7) McHale*

Great experience shown from Agnieszka Radwanska.

The ninth seed has just fought off a match point against Christina McHale in a second set tie-break.

She is going to have to repeat the trick though...

And she does! Still this tie-break keeps going.

I want more from Kyle Edmund, I don't think he should be ranked 50, he should be knocking on top 30 and then top 20.

Mentally, it's his character on the court. I think he needs to express himself better and that will help him with his belief because he's a very good player. I'd like to see him back here next year, hopefully seeded, and going into the second week.

  8. 'I'm not a big fan of grass'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

Gael Monfils speaking on BBC Two: "I was pretty solid today, he tried and was playing at home, he put up a great fight. I hurt myself a bit in Eastbourne so still have a couple of issues but will fix this with my team.

"I try to understand the game on grass a bit better, but I'm not a big fan of it."

The first set was crucial. They both played good tennis but at the important point it was Monfils who could go that extra gear and is the deserving winner.

It's an experience for Edmund, he has been on Centre Court now and he can improve. With the weapons he has got, he has to be more comfortable coming forward, improve his defensive skills and have more belief in himself.

The British number two heads off the grass to whoops and cheers from the crowd.

That was Kyle Edmund's maiden second round appearance at Wimbledon. The boy's going in the right direction, he just didn't have the killer edge today against the experienced Monfils.

  12. Isner and Del Potro in troublepublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

If John Isner got his prize money by the game or minute he would be a very rich man as his match against Dudi Sela ticks beyond the three and a half hour mark.

The American is in a spot of bother too. Sela has broken serve right at the start of this fifth set and leads 3-0 in the decider.

Another man in danger is Juan Martin del Potro. Already two sets down against Ernests Gulbis, the Argentine has just lost his serve to go 2-1 behind in the third set.

Women's ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska is also finding it tough against Christina McHale. McHale took the first set while the second is currently at 5-5.

    Nervy times.

Edmund whacks a forehand return into the corner but it's long. 15-0.

He's then overpowered by a Monfils second serve. 30-0.

Another ridiculously speedy service game from Gael Monfils. About 30/40 seconds again. Madness.

He's up 5-3 and Kyle is serving to stay in the match.

So who will play Novak Djokovic in round three?

We know it will either be Ernests Gulbis or Juan Martin del Potro and at the moment Gulbis is looking the more likely.

He won the first set and has just taken the second 6-4.

The Latvian's winner count is still rising. 40 now so far in this match including the remarkable lob above. Watch it here.

Elsewhere, 27th seed Mischa Zverev has come through a five-set battle against Mikhail Kukushkin.

American 23rd seed John Isner meanwhile is also going to a decider. For a third time in his match against Dudi Sela a set has gone to a tie-break with the Israeli coming out on top this time.

  18. Monfils breakspublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 6 July 2017

    *Monfils 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 4-3 Edmund

Both players scamper side to side in battle and Monfils comes out on top of the rally. The sweat must be dripping off them after that.

Edmund recovers to 30-15 as Monfils nets.

The Briton challenges a call on the baseline, but Hawkeye shows Monfils' return is clean.

The Frenchman has break point again and takes it with a backhand winner. Four games in a row! What a turnaround.

    Monfils 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 3-3 Edmund*

Monfils goes 0-30 down and decides he needs a new racquet. After the change, he lands two mahoosive aces. Ping!

Edmund has the opportunity to break but the new racquet does its job. Another ace for Monfils.

The Frenchman has the advantage after Edmund fails to get on the end of a volley.

We go back and forth on deuce and Monfils advantage for a bit and eventually there's a hold. We're level in the third.
