Simon Rigler: Heather Watson is fighting hard but it feels all too inevitable against a mentally tougher player.

TheFreeRangeChalet: Come on Heather Watson. Now's the time to show your mettle!

And Watson does it. Incredible stuff. Great resilience show by the Brit, much to the delight of the majority of Centre Court.

Hawk-Eye comes to Watson's aid with the ball out by the slightest margin to give Watson a break point.

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-1 4-3 Watson

A double fault from Azarenka in game eight of set three gives Watson a 30-0 lead as hope rises on Centre Court.

Azarenka takes the next two points with Watson losing grip of her racquet as she desperately tries, unsuccessfully to stretch and reach one.

A shout of 'Come on Heather' follows, can the Brit get the much-needed break back? 30-30.

This is tense. Every time the ball comes flat off Heather Watson's racquet or loops up, there is a gasp on Centre.

Then there are just murmurings of disbelief that she couldn't get over the line. Azarenka took her second break point of SIX deuces.

Thinking too much is Watson's downfall. I admire her athleticism, her backhand, her volleys but as Billie-Jean King says, "great technique breaks down under pressure".

  8. Azarenka breaks servepublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-1 4-3 Watson

Is that the moment the match slipped through Heather Watson's fingers? She had saved one break point in a game that lasted 10 and a half minutes.

She can't save herself moment later, with a forehand from the baseline hitting the bottom half of the net. Azarenka is in control now, 4-3 ahead with the oh so vital break.

I'm actually surprised Azarenka is still playing a lot to the backhand still when Watson is so strong there.

You can feel the hesitation with every shot from both players.

Incredible stuff on Centre and the fans are loving it. Watson somehow claws one back from the baseline, Azarenka, at the net but off balance, lets out a huge shriek as she can only steer the ball out of play.

An unforced error on the forehand from Watson, her 13th of the match, ruins her good work immediately afterwards and it is deuce once again. What a game.

We are now up to the sixth deuce, and an epic game that is approaching the 10-minute mark.

If Watson could hit every ball on her backhand for the rest of the set, she would be alright.

Break point for Azarenka, but Watson gets her serve right just when it is needed. It is wide, Azarenka does well to get a racquet on to it, and Watson can slap a winner away.

A backhand winner, so often a Watson strength today, then gives the Brit the advantage but a fine shot down the line from Azarenka sees us at deuce again.

Which way will this one go? Remember, we still have Rafael Nadal and then Andy Murray to come and a Centre Court ticket today is a great one to have.

Potential drama in this game, game seven, as we go to deuce.

It is the calm before the storm at the moment. Watson wins a service game to love, before Azarenka does the same. Three-all, one set all.

Heather Watson knows how to hit a good forehand. In practice, she really can hit them well.

It's in these moments she seems to lose them first.

Just what the doctor ordered. Watson finally gets some first serves in, and is rewarded with a service game to love.

Some relief for the Brit, and also the British crowd. The flags are being waved, with the majority of spectators willing on Watson.

Among the crowd is Masters champion Sergio Garcia, fully decked out in his Green Jacket following his win at Augusta in April. It took the Spaniard a while to win it, so he is wearing it at every available opportunity it seems.

Disappointment for Johnson, who had worked so hard to get back into that second set.

The Californian was clinging on in that tie-break and had his opportunities, but a 13th ace of the mach from Cilic sets up a set point and he seals it as Johnson whips a back hand short into the net.
