    Peng 3-1 Halep

Simona Halep has a real battle on her hands here because Peng Shuai is not wilting in the heat. Quite the opposite in fact. Peng is playing aggressively and a thumping forehand down the line secures the first break of the match.

    Azarenka 3-6 6-1 2-2 Watson*

This game is following a similar pattern at the moment. Heather Watson is having to battle with everything she has to keep hold of her serve, while it is quite straightforward for her opponent.

Watson can only claim one point in the fourth game, as Azarenka takes us to 2-2.

Phew. Centre Court breathes a collective sigh of relief. Heather Watson exhales even harder.

After nine minutes of toil, she finally hangs on to her serve.

No wonder the guy sat next to the press seats needs a towel, given to him by his female companion like a ball kid to a superstar player, to mop his face.

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-1 1-2 Watson

Heather Watson is battling hard for what could be the finest win of her career. She dashes all over the court and her hard work comes off with a deft drop shot, but Azarenka did not reach world number one for no reason as a quality forehand brings us back to the third deuce.

Then, much to the delight of a packed Centre Court, Azarenka goes long as Watson just keeps her nose in front. A gutsy hold of serve at a vital time.

She could be making it easier for herself though, as these first serve statistics show.

Every service game is a grind at the moment for Heather Watson, but she's made a positive start to the decisive third set. This 'super' drop shot has been a particular highlight so far...

On Court One, Steve Johnson has finally broken Marin Cilic, as the Croatian served for the set.

Big service game coming up for the American to get back on level terms and he holds.

    Game on.

Gilles Muller's coach Alexandre Lisecki was straight out of his seat a few rows in front of me to celebrate the Luxembourg man's victory - Muller himself seemed to enjoy the moment too... he is into the last-16 at Wimbledon for the first time, at the age of 34.

No celebrations for Aljaz Bedene, obviously - but the Slovenian-born Brit has still had his best ever Wimbledon and gets a deserved ovation from the crowd as he leaves court two.

    Nishikori 4-6 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 2-0 Bautista Agut

Roberto Bautista Agut has been broken in the first game of the fourth set and he is down on the deck again, falling over as he tries to reach a return and banging his wrist on the court.

Kei Nishikori holds and the momentum is with the Japanese ninth seed.

    Peng v Halep

World number two Simona Halep is up shortly on court two against Peng Shuai.

Peng wins the coin toss and glances up at the sky, checking out the glare from the sun. She opts for the south side of the court.

Halep reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2014 while Peng has never progressed beyond the fourth round.

Well, that set was a little deflating from a British perspective.

And I've got some more bad news.

Azarenka has a 100% record of victory in her two three-set matches this year, and a 60% win rate across her career.

Watson has won five of her nine matches which have gone all the way in 2017. But that percentage drops to just 43% since she had been playing on tour.

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-1 0-1 Watson

Watson, serving at the start of set three, loses the first two points of the opener.

But she stays strong and fights back, taking the next four, including an emphatic forehand winner after Azarenka can only loop back a return. A good hold for the Brit.
