    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 2-4 Konta

Halep adjusts her racquet strings as a backhand slice hits the net post and lands back on her side.

Out from Halep after a rally that Konta, really, had no right to still be in! Ridonkulous stroke play, the ball being pushed wider and wider, before Halep made the error. 40-0!

Halep looks a little miffed, to say the least and throws the kitchen sink at a backhand winner, before Konta gifts her a point with a return into the net.

Long return from Halep! Konta holds!

If you don't think a crowd can be the difference between winning and losing, you haven't watched enough tennis.

It happened in the tie-break and it's part of why Halep just got broken. You could feel it seep into her bones.

    Yes she can!

She keeps pushing Halep out wide and eventually the error comes! First break goes Konta's way, and she still looks as cool as a cucumber.

Fingernails being bitten all around Centre Court as the crowd look on. It's so quiet, the only sound making any impact is the thud of the ball flying off the racquet.

Oh, hello, two break points Konta! She's been pushing Halep out wide and twice the Romanian lashes returns into the net. Can Konta take this chance?

Konta has been so good up at the net today, another point going her way with a little forehand dink.

Long with the backhand goes Halep, and Konta keeps her steel, crouching low on the baseline, to draw the eventual error out of the Romanian.

    Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 2-1 Konta*

Simona Halep makes things look very, very easy at times.

A double fault is Konta's only chance to get on the board as Halep whizzes through her service game.

It's amazing how many balls Halep picks up. Yes, she is fast on the court but it's more than that. She picks up cues from her opponent and gets a read on where the shots are going.

She has the desire and the spirit to get there

Up at the net again and there's a scream from the crowd as Konta looks to be beaten - but another sneak little tap return has the crowd cheering.

And a smash to hold! What a game.

    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Konta

Konta has Halep chasing from left to right, always behind the rally, before lashing a forehand winner straight down the line.

The first advantage comes and goes, Konta's forehand gong long, but she responds with another fiery backhand slap.

And again, Halep keeps herself in the point with a passing winner. Third deuce ahoy.
