I can't say enough about how well these two are playing. What a quarter-final match.

    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Konta

Deep breath from Konta, steadying herself after a forehand goes awry, and she cracks down her third ace as we tick over the two hour mark.

A double fault from Konta isn't ideal but she cracks over an uppish forehand at the net, right before Halep gets break point with a smash of her own.

An almighty shot into the corner of the court from Konta, and that's deuce!

Left celebrating wildly on the 73 bus through Islington by that tie break. If only all commutes could be this exciting.

Simona's got to feel good about the way she's played. She's done a lot of good things - including holding there.

Maybe after what happened in France, she thinks it can't get any worse than that.

    Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Konta*

A second serve ace from Halep settles those nerves nicely, but a passing forehand winner from Konta, fizzing the ball past Halep as she's up at the net, draws cheers from the crowd

Another forehand winner comes off Konta's racquet, but Halep keeps her nerve and comes out of a rally to hold.

  8. How close?published at 18:12 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

There are just two points separating the two players at the end of the second set.

Halep has made just six unforced errors - that is unheard of at this stage of a match.

Konta has hit 32 - the same number as her winners. It's win it or bin it from Jo so far...

    Konta's back!

Here we go. Halep to serve. Everyone's nerves doing alright?

  10. Postpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) Konta

Halep is loosely hitting balls over the net as Konta has nipped off for a comfort break.

The umpire heads over to have a word with her and er, she ignores him. She's whirling her arm around furiously.

Tom Firth: Watching #Wimbledon, external on a beach in Portugal I don't think life gets much better.

Tina Knights: Watched that tie-break on the train. I've never hated tunnels so much!!! Will be home in time to watch this play out!

Chris: I apologise to my neighbours for getting rather loud during that tie-break

You feel for both players, how tough it can be when it slips away. Halep was a couple of points away from winning, she could taste it.

  14. 'It deserves a third set'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    Kim Clijsters
Former world number one on BBC TV

We have seen two incredible sets of tennis. The way they are playing it's fair that it is one set each. Both sets could have gone either way and it deserves a third set.

I guess I felt the body language of Halep was changing - there were looks to coach Darren Cahill. I felt like there was tension in her game.

This match is worthy of a final set.

    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) Konta

The absolute guts on these two players.

Set down on Centre Court, rueing a few missed opportunities - and Jo Konta has forced a decider.

Even more importantly, she's forced the news onto BBC Two!

  17. Game and second set - Kontapublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) Konta

She's done it! With a backhand winner into the corner.

There's a standing ovation for Johanna Konta. The British number one has forced this into a decider.

What a brilliant match. Pure Centre Court drama.

    Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-6 (5-6) Konta*

    Into the net from Halep!

And down the line from Konta! That's a corker of a return! Set point, Konta!

  19. Tie-breakpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 6-6 (5-4) Konta

Another big intake of breath from Konta as she comes back on serve.

She wins the first point by overpowering Halep with her backhand.

But the Briton gets too much on the next point. Her backhand goes long.

Halep looks extremely calm - she doesn't look stressed out.
