    Halep 6-5 Konta*

Ah, Kader Nouni is the man in the umpire's chair. Those Barry White-esque tones are ringing out around Centre Court.

Halep is so strong when she's on the defensive, sticking in with the rallies, but Konta keeps whacking back the returns.

That's a fine, furious, high swipe from Halep, and she'll hold.

    *Halep 5-5 Konta

Konta sees Halep's serves and responds with her own big hitting, Halep unable to do much more than slice the ball wide as it comes over the net.

And that's a hold. Even stevens.

This is Tony Costa, 68, from Llandudno in North Wales. Four years ago, he weighed 26-and-a-half stone, having struggled to deal with the death of his five-month-old son.

He lost some weight through a diet club but had "plateaued" and was "losing interest" and needed something to keep him going.

"Tennis came at the right time," Tony says. This year Tony's son would've been 20 years old and he and his wife Caroline held a memorial tennis match at a local club.

"We shone some light on some darkness - and we have tennis to thank for that."

    Halep 5-4 Konta*

Simona Halep is not here to mess around.

She goes big on her first and second serves, sending Konta haring across the baseline, and an ace takes her to 40-0.

Konta hammers a backhand winner in but, taking a step back, she spears a forehand long and lets out an irritated yell.

    *Halep 4-4 Konta

A Konta wobble off the net cord falls awkwardly for Halep but she recovers well, chucking over a return that Konta spears long.

That's hit the roof! Dearie me, that's a proper shank from Konta, the ball whizzing off the top of the racquet and high into the air. She responds with a dart forward and an under-pressure Halep nets.

Ace out wide takes us level, Konta bangs in another one down the T for 40-30, and another big serve again ensures she holds.

She was 0-30 at one point in that game. Cracking fightback.

I really believe that the win in Miami helped Konta build confidence. It doesn't mean she's not going to have problems seeing off matches here but it does mean she's going to come into tournaments knowing she can beat the best players.

    Halep 4-3 Konta*

Brilliant big hitting from Konta, returning whatever Halep is serving her way - and three break points come rattling along in no time!

Can Konta force the break this time? Halep hammers down a serve, gets thrown off-balance as Konta returns - and cross-court comes the winner!

Eight points in a row for Konta, and a well-deserved break. Back on serve!

    Rybarikova 6-3 2-2 Vandeweghe

It's appears to be still raining in the area where Court One resides.

Magdelena Rybarikova was 6-3 2-2 up against Coco Vandeweghe in their QF - so the Slovak might have been a tad frustrated by the break in play.

This is what she has. She can cover the court extremely well and can pick up shots that other players just can't.

She is hitting 93% of her first serves, that will help her as the match goes on.

Halep loves these circumstances - being the underdog. You could see how nervous she was in Paris in the French Open final when she was the favourite.

    *Halep 4-2 Konta

Konta bounces the ball with such precision, twirling her hand and focusing hard on that one particular spot, before banging in a serve that Halep returns into the net.

Better from Konta, a glorious two-handed backhand down the line, and again with the forehand to take her to 40-0!

Down low, forehand swipe and a shout of "come on!" from the Brit as Halep nets.

Tina Knights: Time to see if she's got the makings of a champion and can come back. Let's go Konta!

Pierre Kent: Konta is another product of the RPT coaches at the Sanchez-Casal academy in Barcelona. No wonder she is such a good player!!

  15. Halep saves another break pointpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    Halep 4-1 Konta*

A few times now Konta's forehand, with plenty of oomph behind it, has sailed wide as she tries to go big, but she gets her first point in this game with a backhand winner.

Halep backhands into the net for 30-30 and then Konta gets a break point with a fine cross-court winner! That didn't half go - but she lashes the ball into the net for deuce!

Perfect placement from Halep, a big forehand smack landing on the line, and she holds as a Konta backhand bobbles out.

Virginia Wade, the last British woman to reach the SW19 semis, is watching on from the from the front row of the Royal Box.

And she'll enjoy that! Konta controls the first two rallies from her serve, sending Halep this way and that.

She races to a 40-0 lead, but fluffs her lines sightly, a forehand first finding the net before a backhand sails wide.

Wide from Halep! That gets Konta on the board.

    Because she wants to.

Jiten Chandarana: Shot selection key for Konta. Attack the short ball but do not over hit when the ball is deep.
