    *Halep 7-6 (7-2) 0-1 Konta

Not a great start from the Briton. She makes a clanger of a volley and it overshoots the chalk by a long way.

    But from 0-30, Konta recovers.

She lands a sturdy ace to level, then she slaps down a leaping volley, before finishing off beautifully on the line.

Konta has to get the fans into the match a bit more. I think that would help her and she should ask them for a bit more encouragement from time to time.

Bjorn Borg told me that he never once felt tired during a match. I bet Halep is the same.

She plays a 20, 30-shot rally and then steps right back on the court. Konta just tailed off during the tie-breaker.

    Halep 7-6 (7-2) Konta*

There were a couple of points there that Konta should have won - that slap from when the ball was hanging in the air was the main one.

Konta's come back from a set down already at Wimbledon. Can she do it again? She'll serve to start the second set.

    *Halep 6-6 (5-2) Konta

Halep chunters furiously to herself after that double fault, but that'll raise her spirits, an attempted slap from Konta flying wide as she takes the ball from up in the air.

Quick change of ends - and a big cheer for Konta - but that forehand from Konta has found the net!

    Halep 6-6 (3-2) Konta*

After that remarkable winner, Halep takes a deep breath and is back on serve.

Once again she overpowers Konta, who returns wide.

But she can only land a double fault with her second go. Frustrating for the world number two.

    *Halep 6-6 (2-1) Konta

This would be an excellent time for Konta to keep nailing those first serves.

Halep makes an unbelievable return, charging out wide behind the baseline, but Konta secures the point with an overhead smash.

And again! That is supreme work from Halep, a phenomenal return right up at the net as she clings onto the rally, and the ball bounces just on the line! The fitness on show here is amazing.

    *Halep 6-6 Konta

These two are hitting the ball so flat. It's getting thwacked back and forth and both players benefit, Konta returning wide before a winner goes past Halep.

A lovely little backhand volley from Konta beats Halep before the Brit slices a return from out wide into the net.

There's that first serve - Halep raises her arm in a "what can I do?" sort of motion - before a big winner sees out the game
