Jos: Konta undone as totally incomplete here tbh - No volleys, no confidence down the line, no overhead... Very one dimensional.

Michael Hodges: Johanna can not handle the power of Venus.

Edward Ditchfield: This scoreline is almost as painful as my impending trip to the dentist this afternoon.

It is not a total clean sweep of the support on Henman Hill for Konta.

At least one fan is happy with how this one is going.

Venus Williams claws her way to deuce from 40-0 down.

Another break here and the last British hope in the Championship will surely be eliminated.

The game plan is just to hope Venus drops her level.

I don't think Konta has a game that can do anything more to be honest.

The only thing she can do is hang in there as close as she can to her and maybe hope for a few errors to creep in from Williams.

Venus Williams sits down at the change of ends and stares through the Centre Court stand opposite, down Wimbledon High Street, across the Atlantic and to some secret quiet place of calm.

The American is on the march. And it is remorseless.

No time for hometown sentiment. She has a final to attend.

That double fault that Konta coughed up for those break points was her third of the match.

She only produced 10 in her previous five matches here.

Nerves? Or just wary of Venus ready to pounce?

    Venus hit points

This is where Jo is struggling on the second shot.

You can see how the fast ball is coming back because Venus is hitting every first serve on the baseline and every second serve inside baseline, a metre and a half in.

The ball gets there so much quicker and that is giving Jo trouble.

Johanna Konta cannot slip the straitjacket.

Another little flick off the net cord throws the Briton's timing at the back of the court and she buries her backhand in the gauze.

A set and a break down, it is a long and winding road back for Konta.
