This is not the first semi-final we’ll see Kyle in. He’s too good an athlete. Mentally he’s very focused. We’re used to seeing Murray grumpy and miserable for hours on end if he misses a shot! Kyle is the opposite.

He has a really great attitude and that should carry him a long way. He’ll be a top 10 player for sure. Maybe higher...

The Bryan brothers are out on court knocking up, the spectators are still gathered in Garden Square, but in terms of British interest in the men's singles, this tournament is done and dusted.

Nobody predicted that Kyle Edmund would make it to day 11 and he has not only jumped well inside the top 32 that would mean seeding at a Grand Slam, he has rocketed in terms of estimations around what he can achieve.

The immediate question is whether he will be fit for next week's Davis Cup tie in Spain, and we should get an idea within the next half hour when Edmund is due to face the media - stay tuned to BBC Sport to find out...

Ryan: Kyle has had a cracking start to 2018. He has already beaten Dimitrov, Anderson, Shapovalov and Chung and we haven’t even finished January. He is looking so much better than this time last season and there are so many positives to take from this fortnight.

  6. Where next for Edmund?published at 11:17 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2018

Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

I think he’ll do really well on the clay. It’s almost his preferred surface. The problem is there’s so many guys that are clay specialists and are better on it than the hard court. I think in time, Kyle will prefer the hard court. He’ll get a little bit more oomph. You see how aggressive he can be. Grass may be a place he will struggle because players will be able to get to his backhand more.

Chris Whyte‏: I'm glad Kyle Edmund slumped off the court, #bbctennis, external - it shows he's not happy with a semi, and that's a winner's mentality. Good for him.

Marin Cilic on potential finalist Chung Hyeon: "He played a few extremely great matches and I think over here the court suits him nicely for his game. His moving is probably one of the best on the tour. It's amazing to watch him and great to see him coming back nicely."

And on Roger Federer: "I think, with my own game, if I'm serving well and playing aggressive, I think I can match him with that game. It's always difficult if you are running around and he is controlling the point."

  15. 'I stayed focused'published at 11:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2018

    Cilic 6-2 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 Edmund

Marin Cilic, speaking on court: "I think in the second set I was a bit up and down with my game and not getting enough returns back. He started to serve quite good. I stayed mentally very focused and tried to play every single point. It was crucial in the tie-break to keep that pressure.

"I noticed in the third game in the third set, he let a couple of balls go. I was seeing that his movement was restricted so I was trying to move the ball around."
