Extraordinary things can happen in Davis Cup and Netherlands' world number 369 Thiemo De Bakker has demonstrated that perfectly by beating France's Adrian Mannarino to give the Dutch a 1-0 lead in Albertville.

Mannarino is ranked 344 places higher but De Bakker prevailed 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 6-3.

In other first-round World Group matches, Croatia's Borna Coric has beaten Canada's Vasek Pospisil to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in Osijek, while Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans has defeated Hungary's Marton Fucsovics to put the 2015 finalists 1-0 up. USA's Sam Querrey leads Serbia's Laslo Djere two sets to one.

Australia and Germany are level at 1-1 after day one in Brisbane, Italy and Japan are also 1-1 and Kazakhstan lead 2014 winners Switzerland - minus Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka - 2-0.

    *Bautista Agut 6-4 6-3 3-6 2-6 Norrie

Norrie has only been playing tennis for about seven years - in fact, he's only been professional for just over a year.

He's taking a big swig of water and a snack break, with Leon Smith offering up a few words of wisdom here and there.

Bautista Agut, who did briefly nip off court, is back out, and will serve to get the fifth set under way.

Now, it's going to take some guts - and all those extra energy reserves - if Cameron Norrie is going to get over the line.

But take a look at that - 16 forehand winners!

    We're going to a decider!

Excellent work from Cam Norrie, who eventually loops a forehand behind an advancing Roberto Bautista Agut, and the young Brit with virtually no clay-court experience has forced a fifth set.

Drop shots and big forehands galore, but Norrie doesn't crunch a volley, and Bautista Agut can claw his way back in.

Eventually a Norrie forehand drops just long, and it's deuce once more.

Wild, wild forehand from the middle of the court from Bautista Agut when he had advantage. A delay as some balloons blow onto court and the ballgirls chase after them. We've had 18 points in this game so far and it's deuce again...
