    *Konta 6-5 Vikhlyantseva

Right, Johanna Konta serving to wrap up the first set...

A superb start for the British number one, dragging a cross-court backhand winner beyond her stranded opponent.

Natalia Vikhlyantseva then tugs a forehand into the tramlines.

    Three set points.

This is down to the pressure of Konta's returns. If the serve is not good, she pounces on it.

You're fretting about your opponent's returns, so you worry about the serve to much and make mistakes.

  4. Good timing for Kontapublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Sonia Oxley

A great time to break for Konta and doesnt she know it! Big fist pump and a “come on”! She just needs to serve it out.

  5. Clarke off to a flying startpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Gulbis 4-6 2-1 Clarke*

19-year-old British wild card Jay Clarke is showing he has an all-round game and is worthy of his reputation of one of Britain's best young players.

He smashes a serve down at 127mph to win one game before pushing Ernests Gulbis all the way in the next with some great scampering and big forehand hitting. Gulbis holds on though, just.

Still it's been impressive from the Clarke. Here are his highlights from the first set...

    Konta 5-5 Vikhlyantseva*

Lovely stuff from the British number one, reading Natalia Vikhlyantseva's serve like it was published especially for her and then wrong-footing the Russian to make it 0-30.

Pressure on the 21-year-old... a double fault, and three break points.

  8. Game and first set - Del Potropublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Del Potro 6-3 Gojowczyk

    Del Potro v Gojowczyk

So Johanna Konta finds herself serving to stay in the first set.

And successfully negotiates that hurdle with a string of punchy serves. Both players popping down some corkers from the service line.

All is going well for Japan's Kei Nishikori so far.

    *Konta 4-5 Vikhlyantseva

Natalia Vikhlyantseva steams to a love hold. No messing around from the Russian on serve.

    *Barty 3-5 Voegele

There have been three breaks of serves in eight games over on court 12.

Australian number one and 17th seed Ash Barty is in a bit of trouble. The 2011 Wimbledon girls champion is serving to stay in the first set against Stefanie Voegele.

You can watch that one here.

  14. Konta takes advantage of fluffed returnpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

Johanna Konta used her speed brilliantly to level with Natalia Vikhlyantseva from an acute angle.

  15. Konta holdspublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Konta 4-4 Vikhlyantseva*

Framer, but Johanna Konta watches it drop inside the baseline and, having steadied herself, whips a forehand winner down the line that kisses the chalk and zips beyond Natalia Vikhlyantseva.

  16. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Konta 3-4 Vikhlyantseva

A bit of bounce in Johanna Konta, shaking off that awkward looking slip a moment ago and rattling down a couple of string-shattering serves.

The British number one soars to 40-0 before Natalia Vikhlyantseva musters a response.

  17. 'Everyone has a dip'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Konta 3-4 Vikhlyantseva

    Jo Durie
Former British number one on BBC TV

I would think Konta is easily a top 20 player, she is usually consistent on the tour, in the way she plays. She beats the players she is meant to beat and beat some top ones.

This year she has had losses outside the top 100, but just lately I think she is getting back into he stride, back into her confidence. Everyone has a dip.

  18. Game and first set Clarkepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Gulbis 4-6 0-0 Clarke

A dream start for Britain's Jay Clarke.

He may be making his Grand Slam singles debut at the age of 19 but he's made a composed start to take the opening set against Ernests Gulbis.

Clarke made just two unforced errors compared to 11 from his opponent.

A wave of the racquet and a bit of swagger as Clarke walks to his chair. Impressive.

  20. Delpo breakspublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Del Potro 4-2 Gojowczyk

Don't talk when Del Potro is about to serve.

    .

The Argentine is still huffing about it after coming through a three minute game to hold serve.

He's just broken Peter Gojowczyk's serve at the second attempt to take a slender lead in the first set.
