A very good start for Kyle. He is playing some confident tennis and it is not always easy to get that feel for the ball in your first match in a Grand Slam.

I always enjoy playing the French Open. For us Brazilians it has a lot of history with Gustavo Kuerten winning here three times.

Me and Jamie Murray have been practising well here, we are playing some good tennis.

So far I've spotted three Union Jack flags as I scan the court three crowd.

Countless more British accents cheering Kyle Edmund on, including a familiar Scottish one sat alongside us on the media bench.

It's Leon Smith! "Great stuff Kedders," is the gentle encouragement given by the British Davis Cup captain.

And he's right. Edmund has won 86% of first serve points and hit seven winners as he takes the opening set in less than half an hour.

    Edmund 5-1 De Minaur*

Kyle Edmund's coach, Fredrik Rosengren, very much enjoyed that last game from Edmund.

He'll like that, too - a love hold, the highlight being a whipped forehand from his right that passes Alex de Minaur as he advances to the net.

The Brit is a game away from taking the first set.
