Superb stuff from Roberto Bautista Agut, weaving in towards the net to meet a short Djokovic ball and prodding it down the line into space.

Djokovic overcomes that blip to hold.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 5-5 Djokovic*

No messing from Novak Djokovic on serve this time, quickly rattling his way to 30-0.

But then the former world number one pops an uncharacteristically sloppy backhand long.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 5-5 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic hits the same spot in the tramlines, this time off his backhand side.

    Advantage Roberto Bautista Agut.

The Spaniard holds. A big, big hold.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 4-5 Djokovic

Djokovic eeks out set point... now he's the one looking to convert.

But it's wide! A seemingly straightforward forehand from mid-court drifts into the tramlines.

That crosscourt backhand winner had Team Djokovic on their feet in the players' box just yards to left of the media seats behind the side of the court where Bautista Agut was left stranded.

Wife Jelena was the first on her feet, fist pumping and clapping wildly in support of her man.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 4-5 Djokovic

Huge serve forcing Djokovic wide, massive forehand winner into the space left behind - that'll do the trick for Bautista Agut.

But still he cannot close out, back to deuce.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 4-5 Djokovic

Soft hands from Bautista Agut, but not soft enough - he leaves Djokovic a lot to do with a drop shot into the service box, but the Serb makes it and pops a winner back in response.

The Spaniard misfires from the baseline and that is deuce.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 4-5 Djokovic

Roberto Bautista Agut, serving to stay in the second set.

He draws Novak Djokovic into an exchange and then the 20th seed fires off target, before failing to pull an effort back over the net as the scoreboard ticks to 30-0.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 4-5 Djokovic

Djokovic is taking his time over every serve, 14 or 15 bounces of the ball there? But then he rattles down an unreturnable effort, and follows up with an ace, so...

    He holds.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 4-4 Djokovic*

Bautista Agut is attacking with real power, Djokvic is just tossing each return high and long towards the baseline like a dad teasing his kid on the park courts.

He tries to mix it up and cracks the tape, and then Bautista Agut sprints in to meet a drop shot with a winning forehand to hold.

    *Bautista Agut 4-6 3-4 Djokovic

Djokovic drags a forehand into the tramlines, and is visibly frustrated at that outcome.

Can Bautista Agut capitalise on this momentum? He rolls a spinning forehand off his strings and beyond the rooted Serb.

    30-15.

Looking at the replay of Djokovic's last shot, it was the simplest of volleys but he just jabbed at it rather than playing it with soft hands and missed.

The stress of trying to come back will take its toll on you but he looks in really good physical condition and he is moving well.

Djokovic can't believe he's dropped serve. And he shows it by using his hands to lift himself up on the net cord, toned legs dangling a few inches above the red dirt. He looks skywards, grimacing as he rues a missed opportunity to move a game of a two-set advantage.

    He does it!

Djokovic falters en route to the net, and Bautista Agut breaks back.

That game was breathtaking, I need a cuppa.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 2-4 Djokovic*

That's a big groan from Bautista Agut, after working so hard to win the previous point he bemoans the bounce of the ball as Djokovic claws back to 30-30.

But then the Spaniard nails a return beyond the 31-year-old to bring up break point.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 2-4 Djokovic*

Djokovic pounds down thumping stroke after stroke, but somehow Bautista Agut gets each one back.

The Serb opts to mix it up and go for grace rather than brute strength, but still he can't shake off the Spaniard.

Djokovic gets the 13th seed turning, only for Bautista Agut to scramble back and play a passing winner on the run. Wonderful stuff!

    15-30.

Ah here it is... you know the Roland Garros crowd are enjoying themselves when a Spanish bullfight-style horn call is heard.

You know what I mean - where one person shouts "Bommmmm! Bom bom bom bom bom bom-dee-dee-dee-bom!" (or something like that) and the rest of the crowd respond with "Ole!"

And it is a Spaniard who doesn't look like he will survive this fight.

    Bautista Agut 4-6 2-4 Djokovic*

Now it's Djokovic being coaxed from tramline to tramline, sliding and skidding across the clay as he goes... but no amount of slide will see him reach that Bautista Agut forehand.

The Spaniard closes out with a simple volleyed winner after drawing his opponent into the net.

The Roland Garros crowd are getting their money's worth out of this one, some storming rallies and fantastic ground strokes on display.

Djokovic popping a winner down the line, before Bautista Agut skips forward and wrongfoots the 12-time Grand Slam champion.

    30-15.

It's a very different story in this set for Djokovic. He had to work hard in the first set and was getting a bit irritated by the end of it.

But Bautista Agut doesn't have the offensive game and he can't rely on Djokovic missing.
