The guys that have won Grand Slams have the ability to focus for long periods of time but Dimitrov has struggled with that.

He doesn't stick to what he does best when matches get tough and those moments against the very top guys and dangerous players like Verdasco have cost him.

He's so exciting to watch, had his best year last year and is at an age where he can still make an impact, but the field is so strong.

Fernando Verdasco has done it - he's knocked out fourth seed Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets to reach the last 16.

The experienced Spaniard wins 7-6 (7-4) 7-2 6-4 in two hours and 21 minutes.

It's a shock all right but bear in mind that Dimitrov has never made the fourth round at Roland Garros whereas 34-year-old Verdasco has now got to that stage seven times.

The first is saved. A mammoth serve from the Spaniard just when he needed it most.

The second... Djokovic takes! It's greeted with a fist pump after 50 minutes of this enduring battle.

    *Bautista Agut 4-5 Djokovic

Djokovic again the conductor, orchestrating the rally as Bautista Agut scuttles across the baseline before clipping the net with a backhand.

The Spaniard then goes long - two set points.

    *Bautista Agut 4-5 Djokovic

Deep breath from Bautista Agut, composing himself after a clawing a point back against the 12-time Grand Slam champion in another service game that looks set to go the distance.

But that Djokovic slice is just too much! Acute, precise, unreachable... he holds.

    Fantastic rally.

Djokovic always in control, pulling Bautista Agut around like Geppetto. The Spaniard answered nearly everything the former world number one threw at him, but couldn't coax a well-placed Djokovic volley beyond the tape.

    40-15.

Such high level tennis from both players. It is turning into a long set.

Bautista Agut is going toe to toe with Djokovic and is hanging on in here.

Nothing beats a slide on clay... and Djokovic slid into almost every point in that monster rally before a Bautista Agut forehand proved a stretch too far.

The Serb makes no mistake from the net next time round though, coaxing a volley home to earn a first break point.

    *Bautista Agut 3-4 Djokovic

Bautista Agut cracks the tape with his second serve and watches it loop into the air before dropping agonisingly outside of the box as he double faults.

Djokovic tickles over slice after slice off his backhand, before his opponent makes the error and goes long - 15-30.

There’s one place on site you’ll always find people waiting to get their balls or programmes signed. There aren’t tunnels between the courts here at Roland Garros, so players often walk through the crowds to and from their matches.

Djokovic had controlled most of the early running, although Bautista Agut is doing his best to remind him who is the higher-ranked player here in that fifth game.

Stunning winners down either wing left the Spanish fans inside Lenglen shouting ‘Vamos Roberto!’

Djokovic applauded his racket in praise, then stepped up his game to hold.

Frustration gets the better of the Serb as Bautista Agut held to love in the following game, Djokovic remonstrating with himself as he screams and shouts at the red dirt.

The crowd respond with encouraging applause as they sense the former world number one has lost his way a little.

If you haven't been to Roland Garros then I can assure you Court Suzanne Lenglen is a pleasant place to watch top-class tennis. Especially when it is not cold and damp.

The site's second show-court had a makeover before this year's tournament - new, smart wooden seats with a beige all-weather coating, plus a lick of grey paint on the steps of the steep stands.

Outside is a hive of activity after also having a spruce, fans gathering to gawp at the big screen outside, take that social media-perfect snap next to a statue of six-time French Open champion Lenglen or queue up to get into the brand-spanking new courts seven and nine.
