The next best seat in the house?

For those not lucky enough to have a show-court ticket, you can always catch some rays while following the action on the giant screen on the side of court one.

The deck chairs will certainly be comfier than the wooden seats on Lenglen.

The Australian won only 10 points in the set, which tells the tale.

Kyle Edmund has gotten some people so excited they’ve travelled from the past to be here. I bumped into Rene Lacoste, Roland Garros and Suzanne Lenglen on their way to watch.

Medical staff have arrived to assist an elderly man. Thankfully he is able to get to his feet and is helped down the stairs by the medical staff to a wheelchair.

Both players and the umpire patiently and sympathetically watch, while there is a warm round of applause from the rest of the crowd when he is carried out.

    Let's hope he is okay.

A delay as Roland Garros staff attend to a spectator high up in the stand. It is unclear what has happened, although one fan who booed at the delay was turned on by the rest of the Lenglen crowd.

The French don't seem to be the earliest risers, certainly not where Roland Garros is concerned anyway. Plenty of empty seats in what I'd guess is a third-full Lenglen.

Couldn't find any Britons lingering outside the court before play either. When I say Britons, I mean Britons wearing Union Jack clothing and/or making their accents heard in the concourses.
