Cameron Norrie, 23, is hoping to join fellow Briton Dan Evans in the second round, but faces an uphill struggle in his match against American Taylor Fritz.
Fritz, the world number 50, won the first set 6-3. The 21-year-old American broke again in the second set but Norrie broke back.

It's not been the greatest start for Briton Cameron Norrie, who reached his first ATP final last week.
He lost the first set to the world number 50 Taylor Fritz of the USA, although the second set is currently going to serve.

I feel a bit for Roberto Bautista Agut. It can't be much fun having an entire arena cheer your errors.
Still, the Spaniard sends a forehand rocketing into the corner of the court for a 30-15 lead, but Murray responds with a sweet backhand winner of his own.
Another rally ensues, but it's Murray who blinks first. A forehand is sent long, and Bautista Agut draws level.

It's 40-30 to Andy Murray now, as he comes up to the net and Bautista Agut rushes his backhand.
Wallop. Another big first serve and Murray jumps into the air, a small "come on!" aimed at his box as he keeps his nose in front.

Backhand meets backhand for a while, before Andy Murray buries a straightforward forehand into the net.
Murray hits back, hanging into a rally and eventually forcing an error out of Bautista Agut's forehand for 15-30.
That's more like it! A big first serve from Murray, and Bautista Agut's return drifts long.

A neat move from Bautista Agut, leaping to meet an uppish shot from Murray and smashing a winner in response, before Murray draws the error out of the Spaniard's backhand.
There's an irritated noise from Murray, however, overcooking a big forehand, and Bautista Agut holds to 15.
