This must feel really special to Andy - he's fist-pumped twice already in the opening game.

You can see there is a bit of restriction when he has to run out wide. He used to be able to push off and run hard and do that 20-30 shots a rally but he isn't able to do that now.

Roberto Bautista Agut does what everyone has been doing to Andy Murray lately - he makes him run.

Murray gets dragged around behind the baseline, eventually netting a forehand, and he sends a backhand just out for 40-0.

Game, Bautista Agut, as Murray shimmies forward and overhits a forehand.

Roberto Bautista Agut will look to play a lot of long rallies and for Andy that will be tough given his physicality.

I feel like cheering for Andy because you want the story to continue for as long as possible.

Anyone spotted wearing a Scotland football shirt was always going to attract attention today...

That's Lewis Jamieson showing his national pride, along with his mate Robert Alexander, both of who have swapped Oban on the west coast of Scotland for the delights of sunny Melbourne for work. I wonder why.

And they made sure they are here at Melbourne Park to watch Scotland's finest in what could be the final match of his career.

"As soon as I saw he was playing today then I wanted to come down. I came on Thursday and watched him against Djokovic - it wasn’t good," Lewis says.

"I don’t think it will go well today. But I think he will play Wimbledon."

Robert chimes in: "We’re very proud of him. He is the greatest athlete from Scotland by far. We’ll never see anyone like him again - not in our lifetime."

  19. 'I'm not able to play through the pain'published at 07:38 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2019

    Murray v Bautista Agut

On Friday, Andy Murray announced he would retire this year - ideally at Wimbledon, but the Scot admitted the Australian Open could be his last tournament.

"I'm not sure I'm able to play through the pain for another four or five months," Murray told a news conference.

"I want to get to Wimbledon and stop but I'm not certain I can do that.

"I'm in a better place than I was six months ago but I'm still in a lot of pain. I can still play to a level, but not a level I have played at."
