    Djokovic 6-3 0-0 Nadal*

Unbelievable defence from Djokovic, camped on the baseline, and a stretched Nadal pops a low backhand long.

    0-15.

The Rod Laver DJ is playing Taylor Swift's Shake It Off, which I think is an attempt to give Rafa a boost.

The Spaniard will serve first in the second set.

Nadal showed signs of waking up towards the end of the set but there's no doubts about the form player.

And Djokovic wins it at the first time of asking. He dropped just one service point in that entire set. Absolutely incredible.

    *Djokovic 5-3 Nadal

Djokovic moves 30-15 up with a well-measured backhand down the line. An epic rally follows and it's Djokovic who wins it when Nadal's forehand hits the cord.

David Dawber‏: Nadal hasn’t beaten Djokovic on hard courts since 2013. Not difficult to see why so far.

Before the match I reckon the support inside Laver was slightly split in Djokovic's favour. Now it seems those floating fans have switched their allegiance to Nadal. Incredible noise every time the toiling Spaniard wins a point.

That is the Nadal we've been watching at the Australian Open so far.

That's more like it. Nadal forces Djokovic into the splits with a thumping backhand, then forehand out wide. He works the point again and Djokovic is stretching when he slumps it into the net.

Nadal moves up to 40-0 and holds to love with a trademark forehand. Has he woken up? Big hold.

Seeing Nadal fresh air a forehand will probably make anyone who has ever picked up a racquet chuckle slightly.

Rafa still hasn't won a single point on Djokovic's serve in five games...

    Djokovic 5-2 Nadal*

That miss from Nadal was so strange. It looked as if he hit his knee with the swing of his racquet but actually, he just completely missed the ball.

    Very odd.

There is only the one break of serve advantage, but this feels like a landslide at the minute.

Nadal is not dictating any points from the back of the court. Djokovic is just placing the ball left and right, making him run.

    Djokovic 5-2 Nadal*

Djokovic drops a short one over the net and Nadal reaches it before flopping an overhead backhand into the net. The Serb has time to pick his spots and forces Nadal wide.

Then Nadal completely misses the ball. He stands motionless and looks down at the court before Djokovic wraps things up to hold to love...again. He's still not dropped a point on serve.

What is going on with Nadal?

Josh Earl‏: I'd say we're watching the two greatest modern day athletes on the court, Federer is the most naturally gifted player to ever play in my opinion, but through pure hard work and athleticism these two have competed with him incredibly.
