Djoko is furious after he misses a return. His scream is heard as far as Monaco, I think.

    15-15.

    30-15 before Thiem goes long.

    30s.

The quality of some of these net volleys - there are more tight angles than an acute triangle - has left several fans scrambling to their feet in applause.

    Aye carumba!

Thiem rips up the rules of geometry with a logic-defying angled winner at the net.

    Advantage.

    He then messes up.

    Deuce.

Djokovic nipped off court for a quick break at the end of that fourth set, leaving Thiem waiting for a minute or two before play resumed.

The Austrian was eager to back on with things, up on his feet and keen to get off to a flyer in the decider. And that's what he did.

Thiem has never played a five-setter at Roland Garros, Djokovic has won six of his eight here.

And, in his last 10 deciding sets, Djokovic has won nine of them.

Well, Thiem will feel a lot better after that - holding to love in his first service game in the decider.

    15-0.

Thiem, however, goes long to bring an end to a rally.

    30-15.

Thiem looks to he heavens. He's not checking the weather. He's rueing handing over a big opportunity to Djokovic.

If this match goes into a fifth then you'd have to think there is a good chance the women's final will not start as scheduled at 14:00 BST.

Both players are struggling on the 'upwind' side of the court.

    0-15.

But then Thiem produces a sumptuous lob which Djoko can only watch, with possible some admiration.

    15-15.
