    Halep 6-4 7-5 Sasnovich

    Incredible!

Halep who was 5-2 down and faced set point wins this tricky contest with a stunning drop after racing to the net.

And that's with an ankle that needed strapping after a fall in the ninth game of the first set.

Imagine what she might be able to do with two good ankles???!!

Lovely. Exhibition tennis on Centre Court, as both players trade blows at the net before Philipp Kohlschreiber stretches to tickle a volley into the ground left behind by Novak Djokovic.

He can only pick out the tape from deep on his backhand side at the next point though, and that's 30-30.

  3. Halep to serve for the matchpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Halep 6-4 6-5 Sasnovich*

"She had the whole set in her hands!"

    And now she doesn't.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich had set point but has now been broken which means Simona Halep will not only serve for the set but also the match.

    Form is temporary.. etc etc

    Djokovic 6-3 7-5 2-2 Kohlschreiber*

Novak Djokovic responds by skipping a serve straight into the body of his opponent, leaving the German ducking Matrix-style out of its path. Djokovic holds.

Well, Philipp Kohlschreiber wins a point on the Novak Djokovic serve for the first time in as long as I can remember... and another, sauntering into the net to smash home an under-cooked Djokovic lob. 30-30.

The former number one holds, but she is making life tough for herself.

It doesn't look as if Halep's left ankle is giving her much trouble, but let's see what she says about it after the match.

Jez Does: Kohlschreiber is putting up a valiant fight but too many errors costing him against Djokovic. My hopes of an upset are waning.

Philipp Kohlschreiber thinks otherwise. Novak Djokovic can't deal with the out-swinging serve and the German fights back to hold.

You get the feeling Novak Djokovic just wants to get through this one pretty quickly now. Two sets up, feeling a bit toasty on Centre Court, a couple of brief scares now behind him in this opening match... he slams his way to 15-30.

At the other end of the age scale to Lopez and Tipsarevic, big-hitting Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime went a set down to his compatriot Vasek Pospisil on Court 12, but has just taken the second set 6-2 to level the match.

Over on Court 18, Soonwoo Kwon is still battling on against 10th seed Karen Khachanov. The Russian is two sets to the good but Kwon has dug in at 4-4 in the third.

Tennis at this level is very much a mind game. Kohlschreiber is two sets down, but he is still in this match and has to make the most of it.

    Three break points for Halep!

Sasnovich has got the 'serving-for-the-set yips'.

The Belarus player gifts her opponent the break by finding the net with a double-handed backhand.
