Make that four points in a row for Philipp Kohlschreiber! Advantage for the world number 57... and another big serve sees him hold from 0-40 down. Fantastic, and a fist pump to celebrate.

A ripper of an ace does the trick. Just one more break point to defend for the German... his next serve is called long, he challenges... and it's in! That one just flirted with the chalk. It's a massive call though. Deuce.

Third seed Karolina Pliskova is safely through, beating China’s Lin Zhu 6-2 7-6 (7-4) in an hour and 21 minutes. Pliskova, from the Czech Republic, has only been past round two once in her previous seven visits to SW19, but is up and running in 2019.

Novak has been shaken but not, ahem, stirred so far.

  10. Sasnovich breaks back!!published at 14:17 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Halep 6-4 1-1 Sasnovich*

    Gritty from Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

She didn't quite follow BBC Sport's unofficial advice (see previous entry) but instead was treated to unforced errors from her opponent.

    She now needs to hold.

Djokovic's coach Marian Vajda and Goran Ivanisevic - a new addition to Novak's team ICYMI - are having plenty of gentle discussions in-between points.

Doesn't look like anything too in-depth at the moment. First date small talk.

I mean, you don't want to create a bad impression by being too gobby and saying the wrong thing...

  12. Khachanov takes the second setpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Wimbledon debutant Soonwoo Kwon is still making Karen Khachanov fight for every point but the signs are that the Russian 10th seed is gradually taking control.

Khachanov needed a tie-break to take the opening set and has just taken the second set 6-4. It is a big ask for the South Korean to recover from this far back in his first match on the main tour of the year.

  13. 'Very tricky'published at 14:16 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Djokovic 6-3 3-3 Kohlschreiber*

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

The second serve of Djokovic is very tricky as he hits it with a lot of slice and when he is confident he really goes for it. Most players don't practice the serve enough.

    *Djokovic 6-3 3-4 Kohlschreiber

That return whistles beyond Philipp Kohlschreiber before he's even finished his service motion. He draws Novak Djokovic into a rally on the next point though and gets the better of the top seed, to huge applause from the Centre Court crowd... and that's the hold.

  15. Halep breakspublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    *Halep 6-4 1-0 Sasnovich*

If we were Sasnovich (does that even make sense?) we would fire down 'yorkers' at the feet of Halep. That is obviously unsportspersonlike behaviour.

Sadly for the Belarus world number 36 she's making it easy for the strapped-up Halep and a flurry of unforced errors sees the Romanian break.

  16. Pliskova into a second-set tie-breakpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Third seed Karolina Pliskova has not had it all her own way against China’s Lin Zhu since that early break in the second set. She ended up having to save a couple of set points to stop Zhu levelling the match, but has just taken it to a tie-break.

News from Court 14 where Shelby Rogers battled bravely… but lost. Estonian 20th seed Anett Kontaveit is through to round two after a topsy-turvy 6-0 3-6 6-4 victory in an hour and 40 minutes.

Novak Djokovic is just flicking through his impressive arsenal of shots now. From outrageous slice winner a moment ago, to nonchalant lob that leaves Philipp Kohlschreiber flapping like David Seaman during a nightmare about Nayim. Quick hold for the world number one.

Feliciano Lopez has carried on from where he left off after his singles and doubles win at Queen's - by winning his first-round match at SW19 after being given a wildcard.

He beat Marcos Giron in straight sets in 90 minutes on Court 11 in what is his 70th consecutive Grand Slam.

Afterwards, he was understandably happy with his continued winning streak.

"It was obviously quite unexpected at 38 years old to be winning those titles in the same week. It was such a great effort, and I'm so proud. This give me a lot of confidence. Might be another year playing tennis."

In his post-match press conference he was also asked about his doubles winning partner - Andy Murray.

And he said he would love to see him back in the singles soon.

"This is the goal, I think, and really, I cross my fingers for this to happen. It will be amazing."If there is someone in the sport who deserves to get a new chance, it's Andy, because he went through difficult situations and he's most professional athlete I ever seen.

"He does everything in order to perform, to be healthy. He's taking care of everything. So I think he deserves another chance."

Like an irked fast bowler, Philipp Kohlschreiber bounces one up into the body of Novak Djokovic and holds from love 30 down. Good stuff from the world number 57.
