Novak Djokovic has nipped off to the loo. Time for a rest and a reflection.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm doing the same.

I am not sure what is going on with him, but this is definitely not the Novak Djokovic that we expected to see in a Grand Slam final.

Papa Federer, decked out in RF-emblazoned hat, nods in appreciation as a fetch from his boy moves him 0-30 ahead. An acute angle which we need a protractor to work out.

Djokovic just wants this over. Another error brings up three set points... Federer needs just the one. A double fault. Extraordinary.

Novak Djokovic looks like he is lacking some energy out there. We have not seen any of the explosions of emotion from him, either joy or frustration.

There has only been the occasional wry smile at Federer's winners.

Been interesting talking to the Serb journalists about the relative unpopularity of Djokovic here at Wimbledon.

I argued the Centre Court crowd was backing Roberto Bautista Agut because they like an underdog and wanted to see a contest.

That got a withering reply from my Balkan colleagues.... "Oh, because Roger, and Rafa, and everyone else, is always the underdog right?"

    Fair point.

Federer marches towards another hold, sealing it with an ace.

I sensed it, but the celebrations at the end of the first set proved it. Henman Hill is full of Federer fans.

Huge groans as Djokovic took the tie-break, with so few fans of the Serb jumping up that I could count them on two hands.

    Outnumbered...

Is Djokovic thinking about the third set or is he still thinking of doing something with the second set?

Because there's a danger in thinking ahead too much - that you give your opponent a free ride.

Sorry Roger, I might have jinxed you.... oh no, I've not. A red light halts Federer steaming towards the hold, momentarily at least, Djokovic fighting back to 40-30 before the Swiss sticks in some more coal to reach the platform.

Djokovic dropped his intensity, he lost his focus and maybe thought after winning the first set things looked pretty good.

That's the moment you lose your focus - and here you are two breaks down.

He knew he was coming into a battle against probably the best grass court player of all time.

That has perked up the Basel... sorry, London crowd.

Djokovic lost his way in the second set against Roberto Bautista Agut and his level has dropped in a similar fashion here.

Djokovic, looking pensive, saves the first one with a cross-court backhand. But not the second.

Federer bounds into a forehand winner, then skips over towards his chair. Djokovic's chin drops south.

A double break for Federer. Set over?

Left-right-goodnight. At 30-30 there is a slight bit of pressure on Federer, who goes for that old combo of serve out wide and forehand to the ad side.

That alleviates any angst as he holds to back up that break.

I wouldn't say it was a great response by Federer - it was actually a pretty poor game from Djokovic.

But it's just the boost Federer needed at the start of this second set.

No time for hanging around here, no Rafa-style bathroom breaks. Straight back at it.

Federer needs a brisk start here - and he gets it. More because of a loose service from Djokovic, who also takes a tumble as he slips.

That set was on a knife edge with exceptional tennis from both of them as they vied for position on the baseline. Roger was mixing things up with that tricky drop-shot into the front court.

It was a topsy-turvy tie-break. There were quite a few misses on the forehand side from Roger Federer and we know that that is the wing that he gets tightest on.

    Such small margins.

But it has to be live by the sword, die by the sword. Federer has to keep pulling the trigger at every opportunity.

We'll have to see how big it is for Djokovic to take the first set. Federer really must dig in to turn the tide.

It's small margins - but Djokovic will be delighted.
