Andujar brings up break point with a forehand smash at the net!!!
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 5-5 Andujar
Edmund's backhand!!
It's a shame we can't use the screaming emoji here.
30-30.
40-30 but then the British number one goes long.
Deuce o'clock.
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 5-5 Andujar
Edmund is not getting the better of Andujar on the longer rallies - the Briton produces a tired double-hander to give his opponent three game points.
The veteran Spaniard serves an ace to wrap matters up.
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 5-4 Andujar*
Edmund holds as Andujar crouches to make a return from the baseline, but doesn't crouch fast enough.
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 4-4 Andujar
Neither player has really had a comfortable service game.
Edmund is 15-30 down then produces a big serve to get him out of the small spot of bother.
Andujar then goes long.
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 4-4 Andujar
Edmund actually wins a challenge.
He looks to pounce on Andujar's second serve (the Spaniard's Achilles) but instead fires his double-handed backhand wide.
The 33-year-old goes on to hold - a very good hold for him.
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 4-3 Andujar*
Edmund has obviously been reading this live text as he gets right over the ball to produce a stunning forehand winner.
15-30.
A glimmer?
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 4-3 Andujar*
Edmund really needs to make full use of that wicked forehand.
He slaps a winner on that side to bring up 40-15 before a big serve earns him a 4-3 lead.
Time to break Kyle?
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 3-3 Andujar
Kyle Edmund makes his 44th unforced error of the match as he reacquaints himself with the net.
15-0.
Andujar senses "game" at 40-0 then finds the net himself with an angled shot.
He, like Edmund, holds to 15.
Neither player has the upper hand at the moment.
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 3-2 Andujar*
He holds, walks to his chair and chomps on a bar of something.
We're going for a chewy granola bar.
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 2-2 Andujar
Edmund races to 40-0 then produces a double fault - he's had that sort of day so far.
This is certainly not a pretty match to watch.
Andreescu 6-2 6-4 Volynets
Not often you see people stop being let into court 10. But that's what they were doing a little earlier, where rising Canadian star Bianca Andreescu was playing her opening match.
The 19-year-old is the hottest property on the WTA Tour, having won the prestigious Premier tournaments in Indian Wells and Toronto to climb on the verge of the top 10.
And, seeing as she was playing reigning US girls' champion Katie Volynets, it is quite an odd piece of scheduling.
Fans were standing where they can to catch a glimpse of the pair, including on the seats on the back row of court nine...
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 2-2 Andujar
He messes up the first chance with an angled double-handed backhand that falls wide.
And his next return is out too.
Deuce.
Edmund goes on to break back. Well done that man in the bright yellow cap.
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 1-2 Andujar*
Edmund apologises for a return that catches the net and eventually results in a despairing Andujar sending a forehand long.
Another shot from the Briton catches the net and again he wins the point.
15-40.
Two break-back points!!
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 1-2 Andujar*
The first is saved before Edmund lands a forehand long.
We've seen this sort of slump before from the Briton.
If Andujar can hold, and relatively comfortably, you have to say he would look favourite not only for this set but also the match.
Tsitsipas 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (7-9) 5-7 Rublev
Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport at Flushing Meadows
That's it - eighth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is out at the first hurdle of a Slam for the second successive tournament.
The 21-year-old Greek looks devastated as he trudges off court, walking slowly after struggling with what appeared to be cramp.
At one stage he was dragging himself around the baseline on one leg as he tried to serve.
Nevertheless, another stand-out win for Andrey Rublev, the 21-year-old Russian who thrashed Roger Federer in Cincinnati earlier this month.
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 1-1 Andujar
Andujar hasn't played many drop-shots in this match - actually we can't recall him playing any before this one which barely climbs midway up the net.
Neverthless, he's still got Edmo in trouble.
Double break point!!
*Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 1-1 Andujar
Andujar holds on thanks to another Edmund shot that finds the net - if this sport was about the ball hitting the net then the Briton would be king, if he plays like this.
Tsitsipas 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (7-9) 4-5 Rublev
Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport at Flushing Meadows
Over on Ashe, Stefanos Tsitsipas is in trouble. The Greek eighth seed is a game away from going out against Russian Andrey Rublev.
And he has just been given a point penalty for calling the umpire a "weirdo"...
Edmund 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 1-0 Andujar*
Edmund hold to 30 as Andujar finds the net.
It'll be interesting to see how the Spaniard serves at the start of this third set.
Back to the shambles it was in the first set? Or more like what we saw in the second?
