Nadal is very upset with himself for missing that backhand by about a footlong. You almost have to put that down as a double unforced error.

    *Nadal 6-3 6-4 0-1 Chung

That was some reach from Rafael Nadal, Gordan Banks against Pele-esque... he somehow gets to the ball and keeps it in play, and then leaves a flummoxed Chung Hyeon rooted to the spot with a sweeping forehand winner.

But Chung scrambles, and forces Rafa long as he holds.

    *Cabal & Farah 5-7 2-2 Evans & Norrie

Britain's Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie are still leading against the top seeds in their men's doubles match.

They took the first set with a late break but then had to fight off three break points immediately at the start of the second.

The British pair needed just one break point of their own in the following game to move ahead but were broken straight back!

    It's a cracking match.

    Nadal 6-3 6-4 0-0 Chung*

Neat forehand winner from the South Korean as he wrong-foots Rafael Nadal. The 23-year-old can do nothing about the next ball though as it goes whizzing past him en route to the net. 15-15.

Deep contemplation for Chung Hyeon, who sits with his fingers linked staring longingly towards the court with a towel wrapped around his shoulders as he waits for Rafael Nadal to return for the third set.

My word. How do you beat this guy? This is a statement right now from Nadal.

Right then, Rafa to serve for the second set.

A delightful drop volley gets him off the mark after sending Chung Hyeon scuttling out wide.

Third ace of the set for Chung Hyeon. He'll want more of those.

The South Korean skips to 40-0 and then adds his fourth ace of the set to force Rafael Nadal to serve for a two-set lead...

    Nadal 6-3 5-3 Chung*

Well, Rafa is left with an empty court to palm a forehand winner into after sending Chung almost into the first row of seating at Arthur Ashe with a wide-bouncing serve.

    A hold to love.

    *Nadal 6-3 4-3 Chung

Rafael Nadal, still sporting a slightly sweaty purple vest, yelps into a meaty forehand and Chung Hyeon slaps it groundwards, before shrugging his shoulders in frustration.

The South Korean looks to pick a sprinting Nadal off at the net after edging towards a backhand, but drags it wide. 30-0.

    *Nadal 6-3 4-3 Chung

That's a loose backhand from the 23-year-old, suddenly the energy has been sucked out of him. That'll do nicely though, a kicking ace to make it advantage.

Then Nadal goes long and Chung creeps to a hold.

    Nadal 6-3 4-2 Chung*

Chung has spent a lot more time on court than Nadal this tournament, and his resolve is slipping a touch... not quite as much zip in the South Korean's game.

He breathes a sigh of relief as Rafa lob slips long. 40-30.

    Oops.

First double fault from the Spaniard, and then a loose stroke into the net.

Maybe bears are more precious about their toilet habits after all...

  20. Medvedev fined for behaviourpublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

Remember how Russia's Daniil Medvedev was booed in his last match?

Well, the fifth seed has been fined $9,000 (£7,400) for his behaviour in the win over Feliciano Lopez in the early hours of Saturday.

He was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and $4,000 for a visible obscenity.

He snatched a towel from a ball person and then made an offensive gesture to the fans on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

He has promised to "be better next time".
