Medvedev is just getting better and better, at 15-0 up the Russian hits a REMARKABLE backhand cross-court from miles behind the baseline. How did he do that?
Nadal punches the air as he takes the next point at the net but it's Medvedev who gets the next point after sending Nadal back and forth along the baseline like he's a puppet on a string.
Two break points.

Medvedev has got the fire power. He is absolutely overpowering Nadal.

The boos continue as Nadal takes his time ahead of his service game.

Adam Kravetz: Medvedev's fight is insane, can't believe this has gone to a 5th. One set to break the big 3's stranglehold on the slams
Jen Foreman: This @usopen, external final is ridiculous!! Come on @DaniilMedwed, external take the 5th set quickly so I can get some sleep

A reminder Medvedev has never won a match from two sets down. What a time this would be to do it.....
Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-4 1-0 Nadal*
Ooooh, some boos for Nadal as he tries to stop Medvedev from serving, blaming noise in the crowd. Feisty.
Medvedev responds with another fine forehand into the corner and then brings up 40-15. Nadal is utterly perplexed.
He again says he's not ready for Medvedev's serve and the Russian is getting a little bit annoyed by it. He holds as Nadal goes long.

Naim Rahman: I thought I'd go to sleep after the 2nd set but now I can't handle this. Sleep is out the window. What is going on Rafa
David Hartley: OH. MY. WORD. Daniel Medvedev’s final game of the fourth set was an absolute triumph. Utterly staggering shot placement. I’m going to be shattered tomorrow but this is bloody brilliant. Can we have this every week @bbctennis, external?
Tom Sanford: WHAT...A...SHOT!!!!! Medvedev levels the match, cmon Danil!!!
*Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-4 0-0 Nadal

*Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-4 Nadal
My word he's done it. Magical from Medvedev with a backhand down the line.
Go pour yourself another coffee and send your boss a text because you might be late to work in the morning...

Nadal is rattled here.
Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 5-4 Nadal*
Nadal is feeling the nerves and hands Medvedev break point and SET POINT.
Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 5-4 Nadal*
Medvedev errors allow Nadal into a 30-0 lead on serve but the Russian wins the next point at the net. Standard.
Nadal responds with an ace down the middle and then slams a forehand into the net. And Medvedev brings up deuce with another sublime winner down the line.
I'm running out of words to describe this. Someone get me a thesaurus.

I wouldn't be happy at all if I was a Rafa fan now, right about now.

The one player that causes Nadal problems is Novak Djokovic and the one player that Medvedev gets compared to is Novak Djokovic.

Seun: Win or lose tonight, Medvedev has done himself proud. Never gave up. His pin-point accuracy and ferocious double-handed backhand reminds you of a certain Novak Djokovic.

Simultaneous chants for both players. Reckon people are alternating in their vocal support.
Everyone is confused.

Medvedev is giving Nadal all the trouble the Spaniard can handle.
Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 5-4 Nadal*
Ridiculous, ridiculous play from Medvedev. At the net, he plays a drop shot, Nadal meets it but the Russian volleys it beyond him.
He too cruises to 40-0 and then holds with his 10th ace.
