Nadal was a little worried there for about 12.2 seconds.
*Medvedev 5-7 3-6 7-5 1-1 Nadal
A deafening sound on Arthur Ashe as Nadal brings up the advantage with a remarkable winner down the line. The Spaniard's punching the air like he's won the match.
He holds with an ace down the T.
My word he needed that.

He's stressed right now, Nadal. He is stressed. He's panicking a little bit.

He's flat, Nadal. He's going through a patch where he is a bit tired. Medvedev just doesn't look fazed at all.

A double fault from Nadal to kick off his service game. He mutters something in the direction of his team. Is he a tad unsettled?
Perhaps, because then he nets the second point. Medvedev shoots long next and a Rafa roar sounds.
Nadal then sends Medvedev skidding around the court, crashing home after the Russian managed to meet a cross-courter. 30-30.

Medvedev is suddenly playing out of his skin and this crowd have fallen in love with him.

He's started this set as he ended the last.
Nadal goes wide then long and then can't get to a drop shot as Medvedev races to 40-0.
The Spaniard finds his game again to take it to deuce before the Russian slides in to put a forehand beyond Nadal. And then wraps up the hold with a beauty of a forehand.
Interesting.

Nathan Smith: Wow. Medvedev. Just wow.
Dan Monk: Well done Daniil for taking that set. I still want Rafa to win the match but I can easily watch another 2 sets of this. Brilliant stuff
James Stevenson: Stunning. Medvedev deserves that set for his performance tonight. He went for that and it paid off. He couldn’t, could he?

Nadal saves the first.
Medvedev wins the second and wins the set. Blimey.

Nadal wants to buy some time. A serve is clearly out but he challenges.
He's punished though as Medvedev sends a cracking forehand down the line and HE HAS THREE SET POINTS.

Medvedev's been very quiet throughout this match but a few grunts are emerging as this set goes on. An opening 18-shot rally ends as Nadal flops a forehand into the net, and then ANOTHER!
The Russian has won the last six points. 30-0 to Medvedev on Nadal's serve.

You've got to give Medvedev credit. He's not going down without a fight.
