Ishan: A string of two good games from Thiem, in which for the first time he broke Zverev serve.

Zverev, though, picks it up at the right time.

A thumping forehand down the line is too cute for Thiem.

    30-15.

The first set is in his grasp.

    Thiem 2-6 4-5 Zverev*

Not the best way to start a very vital service game.

    Double fault.

    0-15.

This could be fun now. If you're Zverev are you saying, 'I've been brave with my first serve - maybe I should rein it in because i don't want to be hitting second serves now'. That's what Thiem wants - that Zverev starts to think.

    Thiem 2-6 4-5 Zverev*

Then a hold to love as Thiem produces the shot of the match with a pick up winner from a Zverev 50% slap down at the net.

Extraordinary reflexes and accuracy from the Austrian.

That is the best point Thiem has played in the match, he really engaged with his legs. If he can hold here and force Zverev to serve for it at 5-4 then that's a different ball game.

    *Thiem 2-6 3-5 Zverev

    Double fault. Hmm...

Advantage Thiem, who does what his opponent has been doing by coming to the net and slapping down a forehand winner.

A break for Dom. Yes, an actual break.

    Thiem 2-6 2-5 Zverev*

A huge serve and it's 30-30 before Zverev's produces a serve and volley winner.

    Set point.

What an error though as the German's angled volley at the net is cms wide. Too keen.

15-30 as the fifth seed double faults.

    Thiem holds.

Zverev will now have the chance to serve for the set.

    It's now on his terms.

Saved. But another great return from Zverev and it's set point three.

However, the German makes an error again at the crucial moment.

    Deuce.

Thiem is being made to work very hard - but he's hanging on.

Thankfully for Zverev, Thiem is playing like me.

    The Austrian's backhand is long.

    Set point zwei.

    *Thiem 2-6 1-5 Zverev

Thiem comes to the net giving Zverev a golden chance to pass him with a forehand, but the German is well wide of his intended mark.

    Snatchy.

    Deuce.

    30-30.

And then Thiem - yup, with an attempted forehand down the line - finds the top of the net.

    Set point Zverev.

Zverev clinches the hold when his charging forehand clips the net, loops up and then lands within bounds.

Luck is shining on the world number seven.

    One game away.

Sho: This is a complete collapse from Thiem. Just seems to be no power whatsoever in his groundstrokes. This is gonna be over quick by the looks of it.

figwatkins: The chains weighing down Zverev seem to be off after somehow getting through that difficult semi-final and he feels less pressure as the underdog. The reverse seems to have happened to Thiem as the favourite.

Naim Rahman: This is not how I expected the final to go. It's Thiem to wake up Dom. I want a thriller.

    Thiem 2-6 1-4 Zverev*

Thiem was passing Medvedev for fun with his single handed forehands and backhands - he's finding it hard to find the spots against the 6ft 6in German.

  20. Zverev gets the double breakpublished at 22:14 British Summer Time 13 September 2020

    Thiem 2-6 1-4 Zverev*

Thiem is broken again as his forehand drifts long at the end of a mini rally.

The Austrian, slumped head, walks back to his chair as the tannoy blasts out some happy clappy tune which no doubt is making him feel worse.
