The last time we had a men's Grand Slam champion who wasn't Djokovic, Nadal or Federer was back in 2016 - the last time we had a men's champion who was born after the 1980s was never.

Yup, but that changes today unless we have some sort of freak incident. Please! We've already had one this tournament, so no more.

Whoever wins today will be giving plenty of interviews in German over the next few days - with friends Dominic Thiem (born 1993) of Austria and German Alexander Zverev (born 1997) vying for that piece of top-grade silverware that has eluded them.

This should be Thiem's but he did suffer a foot injury in the previous match, so this might not be as straightforward as we'd like to think.

So this is it. Stay tuned for the conclusion of the 2020 US Open.
