    *Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 2-5 Mannarino

Some real venom off the strings of Adrian Mannarino at the moment. Roger Federer is struggling to get a bat on those serves. The Frenchman backs up his break with a snappy hold.

  2. Quality tennis from Mannarinopublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

Mannarino is playing some quality tennis. Aggressive on returns.

Keeps his nose ahead in this set.

When he broke before, Federer broke straight back. Can Mannarino consolidate?

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 2-4 Mannarino*

The Frenchman takes it on the first!

It's a snappy return and Roger Federer can only hook a forehand into the tape in response.

Adrian Mannarino breaks the grand master to love.

    Jones 1-0 Gauff*

    Katie Falkingham

Coco Gauff and Fran Jones have met before, in qualifying in Adelaide in February. Gauff won in straight sets on that occasion, going on to reach the semi-finals.

It's a shaky start for Jones here. She saves two break points in the opening game to hold.

Roger Federer wraps a backhand into the net. The start of that iconic swing has been there today, the result we're so accustomed to hasn't. He then leaks a forehand wide. 0-30.

Wow. What a sneeze from a crowd member. That one was heard from Centre Court to Wembley.

Meanwhile, Adrian Mannarino rattles his way to 40-0 and then holds. No messing.

Just as I was checking when Federer last lost in the Wimbledon first round, the Swiss great lifts his spirits - and the majority of those watching on Centre.

Many in front of us leap to their feet and shake fists like they're on court themselves. Federer? Looks non-plussed as he figures out how to turn things back in his favour.

Back in 2003, by the way. It was that famous afternoon when 18-year-old Mario Ancic stunned him.

  12. Clarke about to resumepublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

There are a number of rain-affected matches just about to resume, including that of Briton Jay Clarke.

Clarke currently trails world number 77 Egor Gerasimov of Belarus 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7-5).

Kiki Bertens, who will retire at the end of the season, is also about to resume, as is Canadian 10th seed Denis Shapovalov.

    *Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 1-2 Mannarino

Lovely stuff from Roger Federer. Drawing Adrian Mannarino from one side to the other and then knocking down a volley to win the point and give himself a third chance to break back in this game.

And this one he takes! Federer hits back immediately and we're back on serve in the third.

    *Struff 2-4 Medvedev

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

It's good tennis we're watching in this first set. The way these players can return now... that wasn't a pat-a-cake serve from Struff - he's just hit a serve at 132mph and it's come straight back at his feet. Medvedev has come out strong.

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 0-2 Mannarino*

Another chance for Roger Federer as Adrian Mannarino can't quite get over the line. Can he break back at the second attempt?

  17. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 0-2 Mannarino*

What a shot! Adrian Mannarino leaps into a huge backhand from the baseline and it skips away from the eight-time Wimbledon champion. Deuce.

  18. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 0-2 Mannarino*

Power and precision in the Adrian Mannarino serve when he needs it, a wrist-rattler that Roger Federer can do nothing about.

He gets to the next though, and that spells danger for the Frenchman. Federer takes this one to break point and gives a hint of a fist pump too.

  19. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 0-2 Mannarino*

Brilliant all round. Adrian Mannarino thinks he's found the angle to unpick Roger Federer but the Swiss is already on his way forward a wriggles a perfect drop shot into the gap left by the Frenchman.

15-30. A sniff for the Swiss?

    Jones v Gauff

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Coco Gauff and Francesca Jones are FINALLY about to get their first-round tie under way, they've just emerged onto court.

You'll remember Gauff's rapid rise to stardom at Wimbledon two years ago, when she - at the age of just 15 and a wildcard - beat Venus Williams in the first round and went on an amazing run to the fourth round.

Now 17, she returns to SW19 with two WTA singles titles to her name and a run to the French Open quarter-finals.

She faces Britain's Jones, who qualified for a Grand Slam for the first time earlier this year, playing at the Australian Open. What a moment for her as she makes her Wimbledon main-draw debut.
