He's such a frustrating guy to play, Medvedev. He takes away shots that you don't want to give up, he's so far back that you feel like you have to hit corners. He sucks you into doing what you don't want to do. He's really an interesting guy to watch.

Daniil Medvedev has the early break on Jan-Lennard Struff, after a seven-minute battle on Struff's serve eventually ended went the Russian's way.

The second seed, who is all arms and legs as a player, has just rattled off a quick hold to consolidate his lead.

Shrieks from one Fed Head pierce the Centre Court airwaves after that rather casual drop-shot into the net. Been a few of those casual swipes from Federer's racquet today.

Just cranking through the gears, Roger Federer, to dust off another hold and give himself a shot of snaffling this second set on Adrian Mannarino's serve. A lovely volleyed winner settles the hold.

A kicking ace from Roger Federer before Adrian Mannarino hooks a backhand into the tramlines. That, however, is tremendous - wonderful disguise from the Frenchman to delicately drop the fluff over the tape and anchor it down on the opposite side. 30-30.

He's got a box of tricks, hasn't he? Again, the different paces he's employing out there, the smile. He's enjoying himself out there.

Superb winner, that. Minimal backlift but a great angle from the baseline from Adrian Mannarino, and then Roger Federer loops another forehand long... it's not quite as bedded in as we're used to.

Another goes the same way, and the Frenchman holds.

Adrian Mannarino's past few service games have been clinical, but the pressure is on now - the Frenchman finds himself serving to stay in the second set.

Roger Federer chunks a forehand but it's still alive, until Mannarino prods it back with interest and Federer goes long. The Swiss opts for the slice off the next and his French opponent undercooks a response. 15-15.

Don't lose your serve! I think he's done a lot of good things. I'd say 'maintain that variation' so he can look to dictate earlier in the rallies.

If Mannarino goes down two sets to love, that is a seriously large mountain to climb against Roger Federer.

Second seed Daniil Medvedev is about to get under way against Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff.

Medvedev, who won the Mallorca Open in the build-up to Wimbledon, has never gone beyond the third round at SW19.

There we go! Lovely touch from Roger Federer to take all the power out of the ball and deftly coax it just over the tape, leaving Adrian Mannarino flapping at this SW19 air. We're getting the whole repertoire here now too... the eight-time champion strides in to slap away a volley and then holds.

It's bleak in London at the minute, although all is temperate under the roof. Adrian Mannarino is keeping his cool here despite being a set down, Roger Federer isn't getting a look in on the Frenchman's serve at the moment as he sweeps to back to back love holds.

How about that for an ace... smooth as you like, nipping the line and swinging away from the T beyond Adrian Mannarino's grasp.

Roger Federer holds and we're motoring towards the business end of this set.
