A familiar thank you to the fans and they have scarcely deserved it as much as they deserve it tonight. They carried him along in some pretty dark places during that match.

    What a night. Again.

It just shows how much it means to him. The emotion, the effort and toil, he's come out on top.

Andy Murray has just walked over to the fan in the Scotland shirt and handed him a shirt and an umbrella.

    A friendship born tonight.

That lob is brilliant. There's the smile and all the anguish slips away. A cheer as loud as he's heard in all his days at Wimbledon... and they will carry on. There's at least one more to come...

Game, set and match - Murraypublished at 22:26 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    Otte 3-6 6-4 6-4 4-6 2-6 Murray

He's done it. Andy Murray wins a thriller.

And what a way to do it, too, with an absolutely exquisite lob to clear his 6ft 4in opponent with the ball landing just inside the baseline.

"Let's go Andy, let's go" chant the crowd, then it's "oh Andy we love you".

The atmosphere is akin to a football stadium. Half expecting that well-known drink to go flying into the air, except all their cups will be empty as there's no way people are leaving for refills.

  9. A story yet to be completedpublished at 22:25 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

Otte is serving to stay in the match. On 30 May, he led Alexander Zverev by two sets to love and lost in five at the French Open, on 30 June he led Andy Murray by two sets to one at Wimbledon and...

  10. Murray holds, one game from the winpublished at 22:23 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    *Otte 3-6 6-4 6-4 4-6 2-5 Murray

An ace from Murray and then he gets it done. He's sprinting and jumping high in the air like a teenager who has never had any problems with a hip, a groin, a knee or anything else.

    Incredible scenes.

    Sport. Absolutely brilliant.

One more for Murray needed, 5-2 Otte to serve.

  11. Go hard, go easy...published at 22:21 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

To put Andy Murray's grind into perspective, he's pushing towards 6,500m of running tonight. Earlier, in his straight-sets win over Kevin Anderson, Novak Djokovic covered around 3,800m.

The hustle is admirable but how deep is the well you keep visiting?

    Otte 3-6 6-4 6-4 4-6 2-4 Murray*

Murray is again so close to another hold. It's a lengthy rally, then out of nowhere, Otte musters some strength and energy to bullet one away and Murray can't successfully respond.

  13. Postpublished at 22:19 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

Murray, again on game point, tries a passing attempt with Otte at the net, but again it's a full length dive from the away man and he tips it over the net. Deuce once more.

  14. Postpublished at 22:18 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

The crowd have gone early with that one. They think Murray has the game, he starts to celebrate, they start to celebrate but Hawk Eye, like a drunken guest that won't leave, ruins the party by showing the shot is out. Deuce.

  15. Postpublished at 22:17 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

Murray's covered over 6km out there, 6,200m to be more exact.

That's more ground than Otte by a couple of hundred metres.

    Graft.

But that is, indeed, very, very special. A cross-court forehand winner on the run from Murray sending it back from where it came. Beautiful and that's Murray at game point, 40-30.

  17. Postpublished at 22:16 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

Murray opens up the shoulders and you know something special is coming. But not this time, a flashing forehand zooms long and wide. We're in SW19, the ball was nearly in SW20.

  18. Postpublished at 22:14 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

Murray 30-15 as Otte can only net following a wide, fast serve.

  19. Postpublished at 22:13 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    Otte 3-6 6-4 6-4 4-6 2-4 Murray*

Otte holds, but time is running out for the world number 151. Murray to serve, he's two games from glory.

  20. Postpublished at 22:12 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

A 14th ace from Otte comes down, before a brief stop as the crowd are told to turn flashes off on phones and cameras.
