    Barty 3-4 Krejcikova*

Ash Barty slaps her thigh in frustration as she sends a forehand long but she wins a glorious bit of net play, sending over a lob that Barbora Krejcikova can't return.

Krejcikova winds up and slaps a forehand through Barty's defences before fluffing a simple volley at the net.

Ooh, hello. Nerves? Krejcikova double faults and we're at deuce.

He lost in the first round here in 2017, 2018 and 2019 but has now reached the last 16 at back-to-back grand slams after doing likewise at the French Open.

The 25-year-old from Chile has only played Djokovic once, losing 6-3 6-3 in the ATP Cup on an outdoor hard court in Australia last year.

Barty's serve isn't working well at all but she sends a forehand ripping past Krejcikova to move to game point.

And we're going to keep on going as a horrid shank comes flying off Barty's racquet. She turns and mutters to her box in frustration.

  9. Djokovic unhappy with third-round performancepublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

Novak Djokovic v Cristian Garin (13:30 BST)

Novak Djokovic believed he was not at his best despite a straight-sets win over Denis Kudla in the third round.

The world number one extended his winning streak in grand slams to 17 matches and took another step towards a sixth Wimbledon crown, the third leg of the calendar-year grand slam, and a record-equalling 20th major title.

Djokovic can even still emulate Steffi Graf in 1988 when she won all four grand slams and gold at the Olympics – a feat yet to be repeated.

But Djokovic, who made 28 unforced errors against Kudla, said: "I can’t say I’m too pleased with the way I performed. I was a bit off, especially with serving."

Ash Barty coughs up her third double fault of the set before she responds with a flat backhand that Krejcikova, approaching the net, can do nothing with.

The British pair struggled for rhythm in the decider as the seventh seeds booked their place in the quarter-finals with a comfortable 6-2 win.

When a player has a greater perspective on life, they have a greater appreciation for their tennis, and th journey. That's what Krejcikova has got.

Success on the singles court has come quite late in her career - at the age of 25 making her main draw debut at the event.
