    Barty 1-2 Krejcikova*

A fist pump from Barbora Krejcikova as she nabs that first break.

This is her first meeting with the world number one, so that break will give her a confidence boost, if one was even needed.

As an aside, I'm a big fan of Krejcikova's racquet. Same lime-greeney/yellow as the balls. Love the coordination.

  2. Momentum with Khachanovpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Khachanov 3-6 6-4 6-3 2-1 Korda

Russia's Karen Khachanov has swung his match against American Sebastian Korda in his favour on court 18.

The 25th seed wrapped up the third set in convincing fashion as the pair battle it out for a quarter-final spot in the men's singles.

Korda is having to dig deep and has just survived a nervy service game to save a break point at the start of the fourth set.

Forehand meets forehand, and it's Ash Barty who pushes her cross-court attempt long!

The first break goes Krejcikova's way.

Court One can run to 75% capacity today, but I wouldn't say we're anywhere near that at the moment. I expect it will fill up more as this match goes on.

I will guess with some confidence, however, that that 75% will be met later on today when Emma Raducanu walks on.

She's the hottest ticket in town.

With Berrettini safely through, he can focus on Tomljanovic's match and then switch his attentions to his next opponent.

We don't yet know who that will be exactly, although it is either German fourth seed Alexander Zverev or Canadian 16th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.

FAA and Berrettini are very good friends, with their respective girlfriends - Nina Ghaibi and Tomljanovic - also BFFs. Cute couple/friendship goals.

Interestingly Nina was out on court watching Berrettini's win over Ivashka. Supporting her friend? Or a scouting mission? Maybe both...

    Barty v Krejcikova

Ash Barty has won 31 matches this season - only Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka, on 33, have won more.

After missing much of the 2020 season because of the pandemic, Barty has claimed three titles this season, two on hard court and one on clay.

Like Krejcikova, her first major title came at the French Open, with Barty winning back in 2019.

    Barty v Krejcikova

Barbora Krejcikova starts today on a 15-match winning streak in singles.

Her breakthrough moment was last month's French Open, where she stormed to both the singles and women's doubles title.

Her partner in the doubles, fellow Czech Katerina Siniakova, was Barty's opponent in the previous round at SW19.

This is the first time Krejcikova has played in the Wimbledon singles - prior to this fortnight, she has never played a singles match on the grass.

Both these players are top of the rankings trees: Ash Barty is the top-ranked singles player while Barbora Krejcikova is the world number one in doubles.

Barty dropped the second set in her opener against Carla Suarez Navarro but bounced back to take the decider 6-1, and hasn't dropped a set since.

Krejcikova cruised through the opening rounds before dropping the second set in her gruelling third-round encounter with Anastasija Sevastova.

She ultimately prevailed over the Latvian after two hours and 31 minutes.

  15. 'Being aggressive was key'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Swiatek 7-5 1-6 1-6 Jabeur

Ons Jabeur, speaking on court after her win over Iga Swiatek: "It was a great match. I lost at the end of the first set. I didn't think getting angry would be the end for me.

"You have to change it up a little bit - everybody knows I do drop shots now. Being aggressive was the key today and that's what I did.

"Moving on the grass can be difficult so long slices and short slices can make the opponent not know where to go and that can make the difference."

    Easy as one, two, three!

Matteo Berrettini, one of the outside favourites, eases through to the last eight at Wimbledon for the first time with a straight-set win.

The Italian really improved his service game in the final set, and blew away the Belarusian in the returning games, to coast through.

And the speed of the win means Berrettini, who is the boyfriend of Ajla Tomljanovic, should be able to whizz through his post-match activities to settle down and watch the Australian play Britain's Emma Raducanu later on.

Ivashka looks up briefly as he is startled by a loud cheer. That's the roar from over the stand and next door, where Jabeur's win has just greeted with a triumphant roar.

There should be a celebration coming on this court in the very near future.

Italian seventh seed Berrettini nabs another break and will serve for the match.
