A one-handed backhand winner from Federer gets the same reaction as a whistling rocket down your local Bonfire Night display.

Sonego outmuscles Federer in a battle of the forehands, but the Swiss passes him with a glorious backhand to move to 30-30.

We're back under way on Court One, although it's taken a bit longer to get going again than on Centre Court as there were some damp patches and some ball kids tried to mop up those areas with towels.

Auger-Aliassime takes the two points he needs to finish off his service game, so we're at 2-0 in the fifth, with the Canadian having a break.

Nothing too demonstrative from Mr Federer to mark winning the opening set. The good old clenched fist.

Far from his best was the 39-year-old but, as we've seen sooooo many times in the past, he's a difficult frontrunner to peg back.

The eight-time champion has only lost four of the 96 matches here where he has won the first set.

Sonego will be disappointed to lose that first set, but Federer will be mightily relieved to get it under his belt.

In the indoor conditions without any wind swirling around, you would expect him to raise his game.

Sensible from Wimbledon, but you still feel for both of those players, who are in for a late finish.

That's an absolute horror for Sonego. That was the worst possible return for Sonego after the rain break.

Well, he took the scenic route, but that's the first set on the board for Roger Federer.

He won 73% of points behind his first serve, but 17 unforced errors to 14 winners will be a concern for the Swiss.

He also went just two from nine on break points.

Brilliant move to the net from Federer, eventually forcing the error out of a stumbling Sonego, and it's set point to Federer.

Out wide goes the serve, and there's a screech of frustration from Sonego as he pushes the return long.

Deuce.

That's a better serve, down the T, and Federer is at the net to pop the winner away.

30-40. Still another chance for Sonego...

That's more like it, Federer getting up and under a cross-court forehand to get himself on the board.

That's not a good forehand from Federer, though, and once again, Sonego has break-back points as Fed serves for the set...

Blimey! That was cruel. Even the biggest, most passionate Fed Heads inside Centre Court could not feel sympathy there for Sonego. There was a collective groan.
