Federer is doing his grumpy old man impression at a couple of deep returns from Sonego that land just on the baseline. Think he's not impressed by an ill-timed shout from the crowd, either.

But Sonego batters down a couple of forehands that Federer can't return, and the Swiss will have to serve this set out.

Lorenzo Sonego clearly watched Andy Murray last week. Not sure he'll get the Centre crowd behind him like the Scot did, but kudos for trying to get the fans on his side with the WWE-style arm raises.

Here's Sonego, serving to stay in the second set...

The crowd were briefly on Sonego's side, but there's the usual cheers for Federer as he hustles his way to 40-0.

A nice little serve and volley wraps up a tidy hold, and Sonego will serve to stay in this set.

Is this the decisive break? Felix Auger-Aliassime strikes against fourth seed Alexander Zverev and is now two games away from the quarter-finals.

Of course, the winner of Medvedev-Hurkacz will play one of these two men currently battling it out on Centre Court.

Interesting. An email arrives from the Wimbledon referee's office saying Daniil Medvedev's match against Hubert Hurkacz on Court Two has been cancelled for the day.

Thought that might have been moved on Centre after this one is done.

A wry smile from Sonego as he fluffs a backhand, cutting a more frustrated figure now, but that is a stonker of a shot from out wide!

What a brilliant forehand that is. On the run, pushed out wide, he whips the ball past Federer and then encourages the crowd to give him more support as they cheer.

Ace. He holds.

A hold of serve for Alexander Zverev and then one for Felix Auger-Aliassime so it's 3-3 in the final set under the Court One Roof.

Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu and Ajla Tomljanovic wait and wait...

Sonego finds a sweet driving forehand down the line to get the first point on Federer's serve, and he's soon 15-30 up.

Federer does seem to wobble when he's just broken serve, although he gets his way out of the first bit of trouble with some deep hitting to bully Sonego off the baseline.

An ace takes him to game point, and Sonego blazes a forehand way, way long to give Federer a hold.

A big point, coming in on Federer's forehand - if you are coming into the net, you really have to go with an offensive shot,

If Federer has time to set up with a forehand, he is going to punish you.

I've seen a few frustrated actions by annoyed tennis players over the years. Don't think I've ever seen a player head a ball away like Sonego just did after the volley into the net came back at him.

Oh, hello!

Sonego comes in again and Federer sweetly rips a forehand past him to snatch the first break in this second set.

Up to the net comes Sonego, legs pumping - and he guides his volley into the net!

Sonego heads away the ball in frustration, knowing he has another break point to try and save.

Federer gets a second serve to look at and ends up pushing it long ovr the baseline.

His coach doesn't look impressed. To deuce we go.

Sonego spins a body serve into Federer, before the Swiss pushes another backhand into the net for 30-30.

Oh, that's a shot though! A long rally, the longest of the match, before Federer blasts a cross-court winner to bring up break point...

Either be relentless in your service games - like Djokovic or Murray - or if you are serving to love each time, like Federer.

Sonego is growing increasingly frustrated, turning and chuntering to his box as he flaps a forehand into the net.

And again. 0-30. Danger territory for the Italian...

Felix Auger-Aliassime had a point for a double break and a 3-0 lead in this final set but he couldn't take it - and now Alexander Zverev has just broken back to love.
