    Federer 3-6 6-5 Hurkacz*

    Brilliant retrieving from Hubert Hurkacz, somehow flicking his strings at a ball that looked to be beyond him and making it too tricky for Roger Federer to pick up at the net.

    It doesn't faze the Swiss, who edges to 40-15 before undercooking a forehand of his own and then holding with a zipped serve.

    *Berrettini 5-2 Auger-Aliassime

    Felix Auger-Aliassime holds to love to end Matteo Berrettini's run of five games on the bounce and make the Italian serve out the first set.

    Despite Auger-Aliassime delighting the crowd with a tweener on the run, Berrettini executes a couple of volleys to set up three set points.

    The young Canadian fights back to deuce, but fails to take two break points. He'll have a third opportunity now...

    * Federer 3-6 5-5 Hurkacz

    John McEnroe
    Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

    You think Hurkacz is just going to torch the ball at every oportunity, but that's just not his style.

    He's awkard to play against.

    Sublime one-handed catch from a fan on the front row as a ball bounces off Federer's racquet and into the crowd.

    He holds it up to milk the applause. He's chuffed with that one.

    *Federer 3-6 5-5 Hurkacz

    Oooh. That was loose from Hubert Hurkacz, skewing a forehand well wide. He recovers by lashing a serve down the T, followed by an ace out wide. Roger Federer gets some good depth on his next return to force the 24-year-old off course but that wicked first serve strikes again to get Hurkacz over the line.

    Federer 3-6 5-4 Hurkacz*

    Right on the corner of the service box, couldn't have been more perfect if Roger Federer tried. He scuttles in to meet a short ball on the next and sweeps it down the line before holding to love with a well-worked serve and volley.

    * Berrettini 5-2 Auger-Alassime

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

    That is some serious power from Berrettini in the previous game. Twice there his forehand return seemed to knock Auger-Aliassime off his feet.

    The young Canadian seems to have most of the support from this Court One crowd though.

    It's happened. It's actually happened. The sun has come out at Wimbledon 2021. Well, been and gone.

    The mood had changed a bit when Federer went a break up in this second set, a bit more positive, but it's now disappeared a touch now Hurkacz has broken back. The shouts of encouragement return.

    *Berrettini 4-1 Auger-Aliassime

    It's the perfect start for Matteo Berrettini!

    The seventh seed calmly backs up his break on serve to take control of the opening set.

    The Italian then lands a delightful backhand winner and leads 0-30 on Auger-Aliassime's next game as the Canadian misses.

    With the set threatening to get away from him, the 20-year-old delivers a big forehand to get himself on the board - but a double fault allows Berrettini two more break point opportunities.

    And that could be that, as Auger-Aliassime nets. 4-1.

    * Berrettini 2-1 Auger-Aliassime

    Tim Henman
    Former British number one on BBC TV

    Berrettini is already a star of the game. He's a big guy, huge first serve, huge forehand.

    Areas to improve - the backhand can be vulnerable and whether he can finish points at the net.

    Sometimes you get a breakthrough and it might be a flash in the pan, but very impressed with him winning in Queens on his debut and here.
