Jamie Murray, the organiser of this whole thing, was also in action earlier today.

He did not fare so well against Liam Broady. Alongside doubles partner Neal Skupski, he lost 3-6 7-5 11-9 to Broady and Cameron Norrie.

So at least Broady can count one Murray victory today.

Murray will have a much tougher test on his hands tomorrow, when he will face world number 44 Kyle Edmund.

James Ward is the other player in their four-man group, with the top two going through to the semi-finals.

Murray said on Amazon Prime after the win:

"It was ok. I served pretty well. I thought I served well throughout the match.

"I moved ok. I find it quite tricky. The courts here are quite tight and usually I like to use a bit more of the court.

"I felt a little bit rushed sometimes. It was alright for a first match in seven months. I've not been doing that well in practice matches so it was alright.

"The last time I had to pick up my own balls was 16 or 17 years ago but we do that in practice all the time."

I think that is great, I don't think he will be taking any negatives from that at all as long as the ball holds up. He moved very well within the singles lines.

"Oh no," shouts Broady as his forehand lands out and Murray has three match points.

Murray hits an ungettable serve out wide then a cruelly sharp forehand to take him 30-0 up.

Killer instincts kicking in here.

The game is over! Thirteen minutes in the end.

Murray finally seals the break as Broady hits the ball long. One more game to seal his first win in at least seven months.

Broady doesn't seem keen to close this one out. His looping forehand lands just long to bring it back to deuce.

Then a forehand hits the net and Murray has another chance to break.

The ball lands long aaaaand it's deuce again. Ten and a half minutes on the clock for this game so far.

Broady hasn't worked the getting it over the net thing out either. Another break point for Murray.

The whole game also revolves around getting the ball over the net and Murray hadn't worked that one out on the last point. Back to deuce.

Wow. Best shot of the match comfortably from Andy Murray. It was the most sublime angle. Murray gave himself a little cheer and a round of applause there.

"The whole game revolves around not missing," Broady shouts in frustration as another shot lands out. He makes a good point...

Broady tries to get Murray on the run again but this time he misjudges it and loops the backhand wide. Deuce.

Wow! Murray looks nowhere near getting on the end of Broady's forehand but he pops back a half-volley and it lands beautifully to give him break point.

Broady immediately takes the wind out of his sails with an ace, though. Deuce again.

Broady tried to punch his way through Murray but that is not going to be successful, even with Murray potentially having to adapt his style and not relying on his movement as much.

But Murray anticipates better than anyone else in the game so he feels quicker than he is. He has been getting back every return.

Murray may have the upper hand but he is leaning over on his racquet, looking exhausted.

Broady takes advantage with a cross-court winner to save the first break point.

He gets Murray on the run again and slams a backhand winner over the net to save the second. Broady comes to the net and that's the third saved too. He is not giving up on this match yet.

A double fault is not an ideal start to Broady's service game and his attempted backhand winner down the line lands out to give Murray three break points.
