Murray is playing with his shoes in between points. Hopefully they're not distracting him too much...

A double fault by Tsitsipas gets Murray involved at 30-15, but the Greek volleys to move within one point of a 3-0 lead.

Apparently Andy said to his team to message Dan Evans about his shoes.

I don't understand how he's able to help here. They're very different heights, very different shoe size, very different sponsors...

Helen B: Sorry to distract from Murray's great performance but why, just why, is Tsitsipas wearing dark underpants under white shorts? He deserves to lose!

Georgie Heath: Andy Murray proving that in the right pair of shoes anything is possible.

Ellen Marshall: I really have to get ready for work here in Sydney but I can’t look away from Murray / Tsitsipas…. Andy 2 sets to 1 up!! Unbelievable!! What an incredible effort

  8. 'I don't know what Tsitsipas can change'published at 23:00 British Summer Time 30 August 2021

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I don't really know what I would change if I was Tsitsipas.

He's not played a bad match at all. It's just Andy that's played fantastic.

He's almost just got to wait for Andy's level to drop.

Yastremska took the first set but Kerber fought her way back to seal her place in the second round.

Coco Gauff - seeded 21st - is having a similarly slow start. She lost the first set 7-5 to Poland's Magda Linette and is a break down at 2-1 in the second.

Tsitsipas received some medical attention for a foot issue by the side of the court as the players took a well-earned break before the fourth set.

The third seed is good to go again and will serve first in this must-win set.

  13. 'It's all come together for Murray'published at 22:54 British Summer Time 30 August 2021

    Russell Fuller
Tennis commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I thought Andy Murray could still win big matches but I didn't think he could play with such fluidity, elegance, power and nimbleness around the court.

It's all come together in one night.

Return of the Mark: Murray is probably my favourite British sportsman of the last 20 years, but I’ve never enjoyed watching him play.

Sukh Pabial: Love to see it! He's playing so well. Neither player will have wanted a first-round match like this. Three hours and three sets is gruelling athleticism.

Theo: Murray magic right now! Oh how good for the soul to see him back playing at this level

You might think Andy Murray had won the match with that reaction.

He has just been so good tonight. When he has needed to raise his level he has.

Tsitsipas is number three in the world, absolutely by far the favourite in this match. I can't believe it.

  16. 'Murray's instincts spot on'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 30 August 2021

Murray's instincts tonight have been absolutely spot on.

If he has seen Tsitsipas off balance for a second, he has been on him.

    What a performance this is.

It's a huge if, Joshua, but if so he would be a match for anyone.

Tsitsipas moves to 30-15 but that's a sensational reply from Murray, who buries a rocket of a forehand to draw level.

This is when Andy wants more energy from the crowd just to close out set three.

He is so fired up after every single point that he wins. It is great to see.
