*Evans 0-0 Norrie
It's a comfortable 23 degrees celsius as evening approaches in Melbourne (although there's snow outside my "office" window in Manchester) as Cameron Norrie clambers to deuce.
A handful of fans, at best, currently watching this one on court eight.
Nadal 6-3 6-4 4-1 Djere
Rafael Nadal, playing his first match of the year, looks to be showing no signs of the back problem that has affected him in Melbourne so far.
The Spanish second seed is two sets and a double break up on Serbia's Laslo Djere over on Rod Laver Arena.
Nadal is bidding for a 21st Grand Slam title that will see him surpass Roger Federer on the list of men's major champions.
*Evans 0-0 Norrie
Cameron Norrie gets the first point on the board but then dishes a backhand return long, with Dan Evans following up with a fierce serve to make it 30-15.
*Evans 0-0 Norrie
And it is the British number one to serve first out on court eight.
Evans v Norrie
Dan Evans comes into the first Grand Slam of the year on the back of his first tour title, winning the Murray River Open, but he has never previously faced Cameron Norrie at tour level...
Evans v Norrie
Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie have been team-mates at the ATP Cup and Davis Cup but have never met in a singles match at ATP level.
Evans, seeded 30th, or Norrie could face world number two Rafael Nadal in the third round.
"It's unfortunate that two Brits play each other. It's a long way to come to play each other," said Evans, the British number one.
"But it will be a good match and will be good fun. Hopefully I win. It's a difficult match, though.
"Obviously Cameron would know me better than most. He beat me last time, when we were in lockdown in London, so I'm the underdog. The pressure is on him."
Morning!
It's a big day for the Brits in Melbourne, and we have already seen one progress.
Heather Watson made a winning start at the Australian Open, despite her preparations being limited by a 14-day quarantine in her hotel room, with a 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-3) win over Czech Kristyna Pliskova.
The 28-year-old was one of 72 players who underwent a "hard quarantine" on their arrival in Australia, which left them unable to train outdoors for two weeks.
She will play either Anett Kontaveit or Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
