Britain's Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram continued their Australian Open title defence with a second-round win over Tomislav Brkic and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

The fifth seeds overcame a second-set wobble beat the Bosnian-Pakistani pair 6-3 4-6 6-2. They will play Australia's John Peers and Michael Venus of New Zealand next. Salisbury and Ram won their maiden Grand Slam title together at Melbourne Park last year.

They are joined in the men's doubles draw by Britain's Jamie Murray, who has reunited with Brazilian Bruno Soares for the 2021 season.

Murray's former partner Neal Skupski and his brother Ken were knocked out with a 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 defeat by Australian John Millman and Brazilian Thiago Monteiro.

Fellow Britons Luke Bambridge and Dom Inglot also fell in the second round, going down 6-4 7-5 to ninth seeds Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek.

Murray was in action on Saturday in the mixed doubles with the Scot and his American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands beating India's Rohan Bopanna and Duan Yingying of China 6-4 6-4 in the first round.

    *Norrie 5-7 1-2 Nadal

We are at the hour mark and Norrie had a slight opening at 0-30, but Nadal then slams the door in his face, ending with a clean winner down the line to see off the danger and deny the Briton.

Love-30 and a glimmer of hope for Norrie. A Nadal ace then follows and Norrie dumps a forehand into the net for 30-30.

A volley into the net at close range from a stretching Norrie, but it doesn't prove costly as he holds his serve soon after thanks to a great serve out wide that Nadal can only steer wide.

Chris: Pretty solid first set from Cam, needs to make sure his first serves are in as he is exposing himself on the second serve. You always feel Nadal can just go up a gear when it comes to the business end of the set.

Naveed: Nadal was well below par and still won that set. This match could be over pretty quickly now

There will be no early break in the second set as Nadal holds his serve. How will Norrie respond after battling so hard in that first set but still losing it 7-5?

    Earlier today...

Daniil Medvedev's coach walked out as the Russian blew a two-set lead before winning a five-setter for the first time in the Australian Open third round.

    The fourth seed eventually beat Filip Krajinovic 6-3 6-3 4-6 3-6 6-0.

Medvedev repeatedly yelled at his box as he went 4-1 down in the fourth - with coach Gilles Cervara eventually picking up his bag and leaving. He did not return to see Medvedev dial back in to dominate the deciding set.

"He said just before leaving that he's sure I'm going to win the match, but he's going to leave to let me be more calm," Medvedev said of Cervara's exit. "He knew I was going to win the match, so he left. That's all I'm going to say."

    Norrie 5-7 Nadal

Cameron Norrie has played so well in this first set, but it is not enough as Rafael Nadal takes it as Norrie sends a looping forehand long.

A fist pump from the Spaniard, who is still yet to drop a set in the 2021 Australian Open. The task in front of Norrie just got even harder.

A couple of aces from Norrie and then Nadal fires a forehand wide and it's 5-5 in the opening set.

A very impressive effort so far from Norrie, the world number 69 in the biggest match of his career. He said he was going to enjoy every minute and he surely must be so far.
