No way. How's that for composure? In the middle of a draining rally, facing set point, and Novak Djokovic opts for the disguised drop shot. Not only that, he pulls it off to perfection, slicing the ball narrowly over the tape and out of Rafael Nadal's reach. Deuce.

Great rally, both players stretching themselves to their limit, but it's Rafael Nadal who comes up trumps and now has set point.

    Nadal 6-3 3-6 6-5 Djokovic*

Djokovic leaps high off the clay to slap down a winner and follows it up with some great depth to pressure Nadal into going long.

And then how about that. Just an out of this world shot from Nadal, lashing a forehand winner down the line for deuce.

Long from Novak Djokovic off his backhand side and there's a ripple of "Rafa" around the court, a forehand from the Serb follows into a similar position and that ripple turns into move of a wave of applause. 15-30.

  9. 'Nadal giving everything'published at 21:19 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Nadal is giving everything to stay in this match and retain his title. Djokovic is letting rip with the emotion. He's going absolutely ballistic.

I've never seen anything like this.

    Nadal 6-3 3-6 6-5 Djokovic*

Such passion. Rafael Nadal gets the hold and scrunches his face up as he roars in delight. Now it's the defending champion who's one game away from taking the set.

What a winner. Right out of the sweet spot from Nadal as he fires a forehand down the line. The crowd love it, he loves it, and the Spaniards pumps his arms in celebration.

    *Nadal 6-3 3-6 5-5 Djokovic

Another wonderful point. That exchange needs its own highlights show...

Djokovic slices, Nadal coaxes it back, Djokovic finds an acute angle over the tape and Nadal creeps it around the net, but the Serb lifts it on to the baseline and Nadal can't recover.

It's another break point for the world number one.

It's impossible to predict. The match is swinging wildly from one direction to the other.

You almost have to laugh. The level out there is just so good.

Djokovic cups a looping effort right on to the baseline, Nadal watches it drop and thrashes down an overhead winner to save the break.

    *Nadal 6-3 3-6 5-5 Djokovic

Brilliant. Djokovic dusts himself down, sizes up a forehand and sends Nadal the wrong way with a delightful winner. 30-30.

And now it's Rafael Nadal with his hand on his head in disbelief as he leaks a forehand wide. Break point Djokovic.

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Novak Djokovic is having his own inner battle at the moment - and also with his team.

He must be reliving that forehand at 30-0 in that game. He must have felt he was two sets to one up.

Such an intense semi-final. Three hours of sublime tennis but a double fault from Rafael Nadal, his fourth of the match, makes it 15-15.

He makes amends on the next gruelling rally, and Djokovic is now waving a finger at his team.

Five-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova takes the time to praise chair umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore...

    Nadal breaks back.

  20. Break point Nadalpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Nadal 6-3 3-6 4-5 Djokovic*

A shake of the head from the Serb as Nadal pegs him back to 30-30 with an outrageous passing winner. And that one's even better!

Remarkable stuff from the King of Clay, he looks under pressure but then winds up a wonderful forehand winner down the line. Break point.
