I think Pavlyuchenkova is rushed out here. She's been pulled into the corners and she's not being allowed to play out here.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-4 Krejcikova

Just a little skip along the baseline after each point she wins, Barbora Krejcikova, which is quite a few at the moment. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova hammers a forehand into the net tape and the Czech is eyeing another break at 0-30.

Krejcikova doesn't look like missing at the moment. She is zoned in.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-4 Krejcikova

Can the 25-year-old now back it up? She said after her semi-final win she doesn't feel nerves, and isn't showing any signs of that this afternoon.

A wonderful backhand-forehand combo at 30-30 to sweep a winner beyond the Russian and then she knocks down an ace to hold.

As we have seen in this tournament, Pavlyuchenkova can be devastating in patches and not able to keep it going as consistently as she would like. But she can keep it going long enough to win.

    Pavlyuchenkova 1-3 Krejcikova*

Barbora Krejcikova is grinding away though, and brings up a third chance to break in this game. And this time she gets it! Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova drags a backhand wide and that hands the Czech the break - she's won three games in a row since losing the opener.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-2 Krejcikova

That drop shot is cooking! Pavlyuchenkova slips another cute effort just over the tape and it bounces twice before Krejcikova can pick it up. One break point to go...

The Russian thinks she's clipped the chalk but it's called out by a line judge, the umpire has a check and that's good! Deuce.

This is intelligent tennis coming from Krejcikova's racquet at the moment. She is making Pavlyuchenkova do all of the running so far.

Pavlyuchenkova has a bandage on her left knee, which has been there all tournament. I suspect it is there to keep the bones and muscles in place, and as tight as possible. It might be a superstition now, too.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-2 Krejcikova

Superb backhand winner from Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, finding the line to leave Barbora Krejcikova stranded, but the 29-year-old then goes wide off her forehand side into the other tramlines. 15-30.

Not really a surprise to see Barbora Krejcikova bounce back from that poor service game.

We've learned over the past fortnight that she possesses unbelievable mental strength and the ability to quickly put disappointing moments behind her.

Former world number one Lindsay Davenport went as far to say the Czech could be the "mentally toughest player" she has ever seen.

That was illustrated in the semi-final against Maria Sakkari by how Krejcikova reset after an incorrect overrule by the umpire which would have seen her clinch victory.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-2 Krejcikova

Good hold for the Czech, the first one in this French Open final, and we're back on serve.

    Pavlyuchenkova 1-1 Krejcikova*

Spot on from Pavlyuchenkova, finding nice depth with a well-placed forehand. Krejcikova responds with a snappy serve and backs it up with a passing backhand winner. 40-15.

It's in! Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was certain that was dropping long from the Czech, but it holds up and lands in for Barbora Krejcikova to break back.

Very nice from Barbora Krejcikova, sending her opponent the wrong way with a sweeping forehand and she has another chance to break back.

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-0 Krejcikova

Wow. That ball almost disappeared on the clay! It was a deft slice from Pavlyuchenkova and it plugged into the dirt like a golf ball in a nasty bunker. Didn't bounce at all.

A great way to save break point. Deuce.

We shouldn't read too much into this nervy start from Krejcikova. She made a slow start against Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals too.

  19. Break pointpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 12 June 2021

    *Pavlyuchenkova 1-0 Krejcikova

Krejcikova slaps a smart forehand winner past her opponent from close range but Pavlyuchenkova responds with some punchy baseline strokes to make it 30-15.

The 31st can't get over the line though, and Krejcikova swoops forward to whip a forehand winner past the Russian to tee up a chance to break back.

This is a very nervous start from Krejcikova. Very understandable as well.
