    *Nadal 6-4 6-3 2-1 Cerundolo

Superb from the young Argentine, working Nadal around the court before scuttling in towards the net and when the Spaniard opts for the lob, it's too long. Three break back points.

    Paolini 6-2 4-6 1-3 Kvitova

Ohhh, that's an important hold for Kvitova, who found herself 0-40 only to reel off five successive points and stay a break up in the third.

    Clutch.

    Nadal 6-4 6-3 1-1 Cerundolo*

Rafael Nadal stares down a ball in disbelief, like he can't believe it would disobey his racquet and not make it over the gauze. It doesn't distract from the overall plan, Francisco Cerundolo tugs a forehand wide and that's break point at 30-40.

  8. 'Try something out of the box'published at 17:26 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

I don't think there is anything I could say to Cerundolo to help change the score.

Maybe, if you continue playing this type of tennis, it's inevitably that you are going out in three sets. So why not try something out of the box.

    *Bergs 4-6 4-6 5-5 Draper

Bergs is full of energy, darting all over the court as he looks to take the third set and give himself a foothold in the match.

Having held serve, he takes Draper to 30-30 but the Briton digs deep.

Plenty of heart being shown by both players.

    Nadal 6-4 6-3 1-1 Cerundolo*

Rafael Nadal is like the Mary Poppins of tennis, just an endless array of shots in his bag. He gets off the mark in the third - and potentially final - set with a familiar one. The thudding ace.

I think Nadal was asking for the shot clock to be stopped because of the wind. Not sure that is in the rules is it?

  12. Kvitova breaks early in deciderpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    *Paolini 6-2 4-6 0-2 Kvitova

Kvitova breaks Paolini in the first game of the third and backs it up with an assertive hold.

    Nadal 6-4 6-3 0-0 Cerundolo*

Lovely play from Francisco Cerundolo to fend it off, toying with Rafael Nadal before delivering a curling forehand down the line. Deuce.

  15. Broady's bad startpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    *Broady 0-2 Klein

It's been a bad start for Britain's Liam Broady out on Court 17 as he has had his serve broken at the first time of asking against Slovakia's Lukas Klein, who battled through three rounds of qualifying and is playing in his first ever Grand Slam match.

Whenever any player tumbles to the ground, never mind someone of Nadal's age and injury record, there is a jolt of concern.

Nadal was at the opposite end of the court, of course, when we saw Alexander Zverev suffer that awful injury in their French Open semi-final.

Thankfully this is just a slip. A bit of dented pride and a grass stain on his shorts is all Nadal suffered.

  18. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    *Bergs 4-6 4-6 4-4 Draper

The two players exchange service holds but Bergs has come alive over the last 20 minutes or so.

He looked dead and buried not long ago but looks rejuvenated out on Court 12.

    Nadal 6-4 6-3 0-0 Cerundolo*

Uh oh. Rafael Nadal looks to change direction and his feet go from underneath him, taking the Spaniard down to the turf. Luckily, he looks OK. 30-30.

  20. Game and second set - Kvitovapublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Paolini 6-2 4-6 Kvitova

Two-time champion Petra Kvitova is battling her way back into it on Court Two.

The Czech 25th seed lost the opening set to Italy's Jasmine Paolini, but responds after being down a break in the second set to take it into a decider.

Kvitova enjoyed the perfect preparation for the championships, of course, by taking the Eastbourne title.
