You can't really fault Cerundolo's approach to playing his idol.

He's really just stepped to the challenge. A disappointing way way for Cerundolo to lose that game because he had done a lot of positive work.

Eyes in the sideline seats on Centre Court are oscillating quicker than a clock pendulum.

Balls are going back and forth from the baseline almost every second.

The fast, deep rallies generate more 'oohs' and 'aahs' than the fireworks at your local bonfire.

But Cerundolo went too early with a couple of forehand rockets and that has caused some damage to his own hopes of winning the second set.

Long from the Argentine. Rafael Nadal breaks, and all of a sudden the momentum is with the Spaniard.

    Nadal 6-4 3-2 Cerundolo*

Ooof! What a rally. Enticing stuff, bringing the oohs and ahhs from the Centre Court crowd but then Francisco Cerundolo hooks a forehand wide and Rafael Nadal has a break point.

  5. Draper breaks early in third setpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Bergs 4-6 4-6 0-1 Draper*

Oh that is just glorious - a bold shot selection from Draper, who drops a lob over a static Bergs to pick up an early break point in the third.

And he gets it! Draper is two sets and a break up. It's a long way back for the Belgian now, who is yet to have a break point in the match.

    Nadal 6-4 3-2 Cerundolo*

A fist-shaking worthy backhand winner from the world number 41. He caught that - his first backhand winner of the match. But the Argentine can't quite get over the line.

    Nadal 6-4 3-2 Cerundolo*

Stick it on Cerundolo's forehand side and the chances are it will come whizzing back past you. The Argentine is really cooking with that stroke, although he then sends an effort with too much top spin into the tape, before jabbing a backhand the same way after a gruelling rally. Deuce.

  8. Game and second set - Draperpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Bergs 4-6 4-6 Draper

Draper's cranking up the power on his serve and Bergs simply has no answer as the 20-year-old holds to 30.

Tremendous ball-striking display from Draper, who takes a two-set lead!

  9. Nadal holdspublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Nadal 6-4 3-2 Cerundolo*

No. Nadal dusts off the break and then plays out a sublime point to edge ahead, just brilliant. Sliding across the grass like it's his favourite clay and engineering a physics-defying volley to kiss the chalk. He holds.

    *Nadal 6-4 2-2 Cerundolo

And now a chance to break for Francisco Cerundolo. He had several in the first set that he couldn't take, but is this the moment?

    *Nadal 6-4 2-2 Cerundolo

Cracking, swirling serve from Rafa Nadal. Francisco Cerundolo gives it everything to get the fluff back, but it's a simple put away at the net for Nadal. The Spaniard can't get to the next one... Cerundolo runs round a forehand and unleashes a winner from height with real venom. Deuce.

  12. Draper breaks & will serve for second setpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Bergs 4-6 4-5 Draper*

Now it's Bergs who's under pressure as he sends a forehand well wide before Draper ends a sensational exchange with a cross-court backhand winner to bag two break points.

Speed, agility, precision. That had everything.

It's a big point - and Draper takes it! He'll serve to take a two-set lead!

    *Nadal 6-4 2-2 Cerundolo

Francisco Cerundolo is hanging in there. Whenever he wins a point there is a solo cry from the crowd of "come on, Francisco". He holds to level up in this set.

    *Bergs 4-6 4-4 Draper

Oh! Bergs, piling the pressure on Draper's serve, looks in control of the rally at 0-30 up, but snatches at a volley and misses the chance to take three break points.

Draper's response is emphatic, however, and after winning the next two points a 129mph ace gives him the chance to shut the door, which he does!

Four points in a row from the Briton. Gutsy stuff.

    Nadal 6-4 2-1 Cerundolo*

Cerundolo has Nadal on the run like he's a PE teacher dishing out the bleep test, but the Spaniard keeps getting string to ball and eventually the Argentine cups an overhead into the tape. 15-30.

    Nadal 6-4 2-1 Cerundolo*

It must be exhausting being Rafael Nadal, going through his set routine before every serve. My only habit is to reach for a Munchie between live text entries. The mannerisms work, the Spaniard motors to a hold.

    Bergs 4-6 4-3 Draper*

An expertly executed service game from Draper, which featured two winners and a ferociously struck ace.

But with new balls, Bergs comes out firing with a couple of aces of his own before the Belgian loses his footing behind the baseline and goes tumbling to the ground!

He gets up quickly though and holds serve. Who's going to blink first in this second set?
