Rafael Nadal is back on Centre Court.

It's been three long years and the Wimbledon fans thought they might never see the Spanish great here again.

But here he is and doing something he would never have dreamed of he would be able to do in 2022: starting the championships halfway to the calendar Grand Slam.

Nadal thumps a backhand wide but responds with an ace that whips down the T-line and away from Cerundolo. The Spaniard slaps a forehand into the tape though, and it's 30-30.

OK, we're ready. The murmurs on anticipation settle among the Centre Court crowd and are replaced by cheers as Rafael Nadal trots to the baseline to hang his towels and collect a handful of balls to choose his service weapon. And away he goes.

It has been a brave, superb effort from Paul Jubb but he needs to be flawless from here on or he's out.
