    *Nadal 4-4 Cerundolo

Another good exchange that Francisco Cerundolo comes out on top of, and he holds serve. Good stuff from the world number 41.

    Nadal 4-3 Cerundolo*

Brilliant. What a forehand winner from Francisco Cerundolo - on the run, whipping one down the line as Rafael Nadal skips inside to cover the net. The Argentine already has a neat highlights reel. 30-0.

    Nadal 4-3 Cerundolo*

That's on the money. A rocket of a serve that boings off Cerundolo's frame and Nadal holds.

  5. Draper breaks Bergspublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Bergs 3-4 Draper*

Britain's Jack Draper is out on Court 12, hoping to secure his first main draw victory at Wimbledon against Belgium's Zizou Bergs after falling in the first round last year.

And the 20-year-old is going about it the right way as he breaks at the second opportunity in the seventh game after Bergs sends a loose forehand wide.

    *Nadal 3-3 Cerundolo

Rafael Nadal hasn't quite got his eye in yet, by his immaculate standards that is. A thumping forehand drifts long, but he follows up with the most wonderful of dipping backhands that leaves Francisco Cerundolo flapping his racquet in despair near the guts of the net.

  7. 'It would've been a tough loss to take'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Jubb 6-3 1-6 5-7 7-6 (7-3) 5-7 Kyrgios

Australia's Nick Kyrgios, who has just beaten Britain's Paul Jubb in a three-hour five-setter says: "It was tough, he's a local wildcard, had nothing to lose and he played exceptional tennis at times. The crowd was pretty rowdy. A couple of people were not shy in criticising me so that one is for you, you know who you are.

"He's going to be a good player for sure, I'm just happy to get through. Playing here is a lot of fun, Wimbledon over the last couple of years has been strange. We had bubbles last year and no ranking points this year but it's special.

"It would've been a tough loss to take and I'm happy to get through. I just talk a lot on the court but off the court I'm not too bad."

On Andy Murray's underarm serve yesterday, Kyrgios added: "I heard about it, I didn't see it but he won the point.

"It's good to see him competing at his favourite tournament, he's won it a couple of times, and he beat me in Stuttgart and is playing exceptional tennis."

  8. Gauff pleased to come through 'electrifying' battlepublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Gauff 2-6 6-3 7-5 Ruse

Coco Gauff, speaking after reaching round two: "Elena played an amazing match. I think today, both of us gave our heart on the court and the crowd was great for both sides, it was an electrifying match and I'm happy that I was able to come out with it today.

"I want to commend Elena on her tennis and her fight, it was a good match."

On how much losing the French Open final has taught her: "It definitely helped me a lot. The first rounds are always tough for me because I feel like it's the most nerve-wracking of any match.

"With that experience, in the first set I was kind of freaking out a bit but then I was like 'the worst thing that could happen is that I lose, it's not the end of the world' so that's why I started to play a little bit better."

The noise from across the grounds is being picked up like an empty crisp packet by the gusty wind and swirled around Centre Court.

Two lots of commotion head over from the south part of the site, from the courts where popular pair Coco Gauff and Nick Kyrgios have wrapped up wins.

That leaves those on Centre wondering what they're missing and plenty scrabble inside their pockets/bags to check the latest scores at the changeover.

    Nadal 3-2 Cerundolo*

He's angered the beast. Rafael Nadal aggressively tracks down Francisco Cerundolo's serve to edge to 0-30 and looks to have the Argentine beat on the next point, but Nadal can't pick up his slice and rattles the tape.

Against the best players you have to stay in touch early doors. If you let them get the momentum it can be very different to reverse that - but he now has to back that up with a strong service game.

  15. Cerundolo breaks backpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Nadal 3-2 Cerundolo*

Rafael Nadal slips after his serve and that offers Francisco Cerundolo a huge chance.

Nadal lofts a ball high into the Wimbledon sky as he scrambles to recover, Cerundolo lets it bounce and then takes it on the overheard.

    "Out!" is the call.

Surely not? The Argentine challenges the call, and gets it right. He breaks back!

    Watson 6-7 (7-9) 7-5 6-2

    Heather Watson gets it done!

In a match that began under the Court One roof last night, the 30-year-old Briton sees off German Tamara Korpatsch in a match that lasted just over two and a half hours.

Very efficient from Watson today, who broke immediately on the resumption and finished it off with little drama.

    Jubb 6-3 1-6 5-7 7-6 (7-3) 5-7 Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios wins it as Paul Jubb drags a forehand wide and the Australian edges through into the second round.

Great respect between the two men at the net and both have fully played their part in five sets of brilliance.

Paul Jubb is down in 219th in the rankings and this defeat will definitely hurt, but he will definitely be back on this stage in the future.

  20. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

Kyrgios goes long and there goes one match point. One remains, 30-40.
