  1. Jabeur takes a trip into netpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 3 July 2022

    Mertens 6-7 (9-11) 3-3 Jabeur*

    Ouch.

Ons Jabeur almost bent double over the net after she desperately ran forward to try and pick up a drop-shot from Elise Mertens.

The third seed had to chuck away her racquet to make sure she had both her hands available to stop from going even further into the net.

Mertens, who is a set down but has been threatening to break in this second set, eventually goes on to hold and keep things on serve.

    Djokovic v Van Rijthoven

Novak Djokovic, seeking a seventh Wimbledon title, beat South Korea's Kwon Soon-woo in four sets in the first round, but then followed that with straight-forward victories over Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis and fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.

“Honestly I think I have been playing better and better as the tournament progresses which is something you always wish for,” said Djokovic.

“You want to raise the level of tennis up a notch each match, so that’s what’s happening.

“I know I can always do better and I always expect the highest from myself. But so far so good and I look forward to the next round.”

  4. A journey which has been far from magical - who is Van Rijthoven?published at 19:54 British Summer Time 3 July 2022

While the 'Come on Tim' shouts weren't too familiar to Tim van Rijthoven, another thing that won't sound familiar to many people is the man himself.

Out of nowhere, the Dutch wildcard has become one of the form players of the grass-court season and earned his eighth successive win on the surface by beating Georgian 22nd seed Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Wimbledon third round.

Remarkably, he had never won an ATP Tour main-draw match until his home tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch last month.

Even more incredibly, the then world number 205 went on to lift the trophy by beating world number one Daniil Medvedev in the final.

Many have described his breakthrough as a fairytale, but the reality is his journey has been far from magical.

Find out more about his story here.

  6. Van Rijthoven's dreams come true at 'beautiful' opportunitypublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 3 July 2022

    Djokovic v Van Rijthoven

Tim van Rijthoven admitted he will be fulfilling a dream today when he takes on Novak Djokovic on the Wimbledon Centre Court.

“Before the tournament started, it was a dream for me to play him basically,” said the Dutch wildcard. “To be able to have that chance is beautiful and magical. I go into every match thinking I can win the match. Also against Djokovic I’ll go into that match thinking I can win.”

On his little-known opponent, Djokovic added: “I’m sure he’s excited to play on a big stage. He doesn’t have much to lose. He’s on his dream run. He’s a young player that is just starting so I’m sure his career will be very good.”

    It's back.

    "Come on Tim!"

During the late nineties and early noughties, you couldn't escape hearing these supportive - and sometimes anguished - cries during Tim Henman matches.

Now they have returned at Wimbledon, this time in support of Dutch wildcard Tim van Rijthoven.

When asked if he knew the context of the shouts, the 25-year-old smiled and said: "I think it's Tim Henman you're talking about. That's just a little bit before my time."

Italian Jannik Sinner speaking on Centre Court after his victory over Carlos Alcaraz:

"First of all Carlos [Alcaraz] is a very tough opponent and a very nice person so it's always huge pleasure to play him with such a great crowd and on a special day with 100 years of Centre Court - it's just amazing.

"It's tough when you have match point and you still have to play - I tried my best, it's part of the game, part of tennis. I'm very happy how I reacted in the beginning of the fourth because I was struggling but I'm very happy to be in the next round and hopefully I can play some good tennis there.

"It's for sure in the top list - I didn't expect it because I wasn't playing so well on grass but match after match I was better and then I won my first match here on grass in the first round and now I'm here in the quarter-finals. The crowd helps me a lot so thank you so much."

Jamie Murray and Venus Williams are pegged back again as Jonny O'Mara fires two return winners off the American's serve to get the break. It's been fun on court two but this is the business end now.

Williams and Murray were 4-2 up in the second set as well before losing four games in a row. Murray must hold next to keep their Wimbledon mixed partnership alive.
